Right here ;)
I am swapping out the outter tie rods (that is what carquest called em) got the drivers side, but the bolt on the passenger wont give.

I have pb'ed over night,
I have used the jack to get more torque with the wrench, worked great on the drivers side (thank you Roadboss!!!!), but the passenger side..it friggin broke the wrench, got a new wrench and now the bolt wants to start stripping.... I am going ballastic on this stinkin thing!

I checked out Mikes post in the tech article, but it barelgy covers the tie rod....

anythign anyone can suggest - I will take!!!

thanks!

MsM8

the jam nut - I got the castle off, but leave it in to give resistance . I've also turned the wheel a few times just to see if would help...

check out pic 3, directly above the small red handled pliers - that wickd little sob right there.....right now, that is exactely what I am looking like, except I am leaving the outter bolt in for leverage

sounds like you need fire!! try putting the wrench on the nut and hit it a few times, sometimes it just needs a good jolt to come loose, if not then id say take it somewhere and have them swap it, you will need a alignment anyways so just have them install your part.
also make sure your turning it the right way on the pass side you will turn the jam nut clockwise from where your at (it will appear to be the wrong way)

I turned the drivers side counter clock wise to remove, Ive been told it is the same for the passgr too.

chickie, i have wacked the living crap outta it, used my 2 ton hydro jack on it, nothing - lolol now your saying if I sit on the ground I will turn the wrench to the ground - all this time I have been attemtping to tighten it, that is what Roadboss said to do, and the carquest guy and the advanced auto guy....oh gesh

got alignment set up -dude told me if I bring cash only 45.00 bucks and should take about 30 mins - is that correct?

to remove the tie rod end, but if your turning the jam nut that way, yes your trying to remove it but the tie rod is in the way so your actually pushing the jam nut into the tie rod end, you want to "tighten" the nut to pull it away from the tie rod

I have tried to see the thread start, but I cant tell, so from sitting at tire, do I turn the wrench toward the ground (clockwise) or up, counter clock wise - counter is how the drivers side came off, and it was a breeze once I used the jack to losen it

oh and thanks a million for helping - soooo much appreciate it!!!!

sitting on the ground staring at the tie rod end you will want the jam nut to turn clockwise to free it from the end then unscrew the end off counterclockwise

my next tool acquisition 2 tourches!! One for me, and one to say thanks to my neighbor for coming over and lighten me up!!!!

THANKS CHICKIE AND KEVIN !!!!! LBD is back together with two new rods and gettin aligned tuesday!!!

smooches!!!
MsM8!!!

Useually when doing the outer's I have just spent the extra cash and bought the inner tie rod's as well that way you dont have to mess with the jam nuts and if the outer are worn so are the inner's. latter down the road you will have to do this all again to do the inners, so might as well do them now.
