i've made a thread about this before....seeing if anyone has any more insight. no cel's. getting 12mpg's. o2's are reading within spec, new copper plugs, cops have no cracks, iac is working( replaced), maf is cleaned, seafoamed, imrc's were stuck closed but i re-opened them and the problem remained......WTF!!!!

Seriously though, I would replace the COP's and boots anyway. Just because they are not cracked does not mean that one or more is not bad.

TPS???

have you checked the cats? a clogged cat would kill mileage. Does the car make good power? is anything coming out of the exhaust? do any of the manifolds glow?

Was the mileage loss before or after the Seafoam?

cats and the manifolds dont glow. but i do get a :q:q:q:qy smell sometimes wot. like eggs wich would mean cats.

i've sf'd the thing many a time so that has nothing to do with it, but there was no mpg loss each time i did it.. i just listed it to let everyone know whats been done.

Nah, that's because you are dumping raw fuel in the exhaust because one cylinder is not firing.

and your misfire is most likely a bad coil. The boots don't need to tear for them to go bad.

I've had this happen 3 times. 5 more to go.

You can kill the O2's if something breaks off and fouls them which is exactly what happened to my 94 and why I asked if the loss was before or after. At least you can rule that part out. But as said before, my money is a bad COP or boot.

how do i go about fixing "the" coil... do i just buy one and keep replacing it on each cyl till the prob is fixed?

i was def thinking a bad coil or injector...was hoping for something easier though.

Ok what do all the plugs look like. Go pull them out and post pics.

Havent taken them out. just got the darn thing running again, lol. the new autolite 764's coppers only have maybe 500 miles on em'. i'll do the coil situation before i take the plugs out again, cant risk stripping the threads...

One of the plugs could be fowled, if you put in Bosch 02's, that could be a problem, I also get that smell after a wot run. Kinda normal for most. Since the 764's are only $20 or under for 8 of them, I'd go ahead and change them again. One could be cracked. It could also be a coil, just leave those injectors alone lol. Please!

DUDE check The F@#$ing plugs. You will see which Coils is bad. Reading spark plugs is to see what fuel mixture you have. If you're skeered of that then get your neighbors kid to do it for you.

Rather than go do a free check you want to play cyber guess what.

i know how to read sparkplugs, i'm not a fu/cking moron. thanks for the help di/ck. i just got the dam thing running and was looking for some helpfull advice.

scan for codes, a misfire will throw a code and not light up the CEL, seen it happen...............

i have checked and still nothing,, i think i'm going to get a new coil and switch it between all 8 plugs to see wich one is bad.

If I remember right this is the advise you got last time. AND STILL YOU HAVEN'T LOOKED AT THE PLUGS. What I am wondering is if you cann't remove the plugs for fear you will screw-up the threads, then what are you able to do. As far fixing the car. Pulling spark plugs when they are easily accessible is one of the most basic auto repair/maintance tasks.
1) you have a mis fire. Check your plugs see if one is damaged, fouled, MISSING
2)You get SH!TTY gas mileage. Check your plugs see if one is damaged, fouled,MISSING.

Without looking you cann't be sure. At first maybe it was the coil. Now you changed that well what do you know it still has a mis fire cause the plug is fouled and still wont spark. Even tho the first cause has been fixed the problem continues its Possible. I'm done with this. So good luck:lol:
