goodbye air ride, you shall be missed..kinda..not really.

Eitherway I'm glad I don't have to deal with the compressor running immediately once the car is started, as well as the constant venting and pumping back up when I get in and out of the car while it's running...

Isn't that how it's supposed to work? LOL :D

Car looks good. Should settle nicely. ;)

Thanks guys!

Yeah I know that's its normal operation but it was annoying with it always unnecessarily venting and refilling..since I have to back out of my driveway, get out, close the gates, get back in my car and by that time it had pumped up, vented and pumped up again..talk about shortening the life of the compressor. Also starting the car up on a cold morning and having the compressor run for 20 seconds puts a huge strain on the charging system..its like starting your car with evey accessory on ALL the time...just nice to not have to deal with that anymore.

So Kev, you would say all the float is gone? but not overly stiff?

i have been thinking about the kit you bought for awhile now, but always afraid it wont be what i want exactly.

Looks Great!

Doug, thanks again for the parts by the way!

Yeah, like I said before I like the way it feels, there's no float at all, and it has just the right amount of "sport" stiffness, but nothing over the top, it still feels comfortable going over bumps. I would recommend the kit if you want a little lower than stockish looking ride height. Only way to do it is to buy through Amazon though, it was the cheapest I found anywhere, the kit is going for $398 with free shipping, ebay lists it for $549 free shipping and Tokico's website lists it for $603 "sale price", normally $772!! Plus you need to buy front shock mounts as the kit doesn't come with them, and find some way to mount the rear springs if you don't want to buy DLFs perches.

That is a cool slide show, its neat he kept that car.
Cool dad! he must have loved that slide show.

My dad always made hot rods, then sold them.
I remember them but that's about it.

This was his last build he finished up in his 70s
We kept this car.

that's a sweet ride, what engine is in there, looks like an early hemi?

Car looks great Kevin. Sits just right. Looks sensor lowered.

I need to change my setup out. Sits too high in the rear on my car and the second set I have has red springs, I hope it lowers it a little bit to match the front.

Anyway... looks great man

You're quite welcome. ;)

I am doing the same thing tomorrow. I bought the Arnott industries suspension to convert my ride. Now that my hours been cut, I can get some of these parts in. Hoping to get the front and rear done with upper control arms changed before it rains on thursday.

Next week maybe finish changing the rest of the front suspension. Bought everything new, figured since I'm changing the ball joints might as well get it all done while under there. Not sure if I'll have the time to get the brake conversion done though.

Maybe we should just give in and call them struts lol. It's an air shock assembly. They hold air. They have a shock inside. Struts do not hold air. No air bag is on a strut. It's ok though, y'all call'em watchya want lol. I know mine has air shock assemblies on the front and air bags on the back with a shock beside them. I guess they couldn't make a shock that short.

NEEEEEVEEEEEERRRRR!

True. It's that simple.

Struts do not hold air. No air bag is on a strut.

Actually...I have to disagree here. The '88-'02 wrong-wheel-drive Continentals had McPherson struts in the front and they had air springs. They looked similar to the air shocks on the Mark VIII but they were mounted directly to the spindle and had no upper control arm. Thus, they were struts. I can't think of any other cars off the top of my head that have McPherson strut air suspension, though.

 Agreed.

Tokico is selling a kit on Amazon? Could anyone be kind enough to provide a link?

Picture is a stock photo..doesn't show the exact parts. Be advised you need to buy front shock mounts for them and find a way to mount the rear springs..either buy dlfs perches and rubber isolators or fab your own stuff.
