Good deal for Cobra Manifolds

I don't get why anyone would pay for those logs. They are minimally better than the stock manifolds. Get shorty headers if you are not getting kooks.

Long tubes are the way to go, but if price or clearance is an issue..mid lengths. Shortys seem like a waste of money. Just get an electronic cutout if you can't get REAL headers.

Stock exhaust manifolds can only flow so much.

no one makes longtubes that are a bolt in.
mid lengths are pretty pricey at like $800 a set.
these are an economical option to install aftermarket high flow cats.

I am assuming that you are new to the Mark VIII world based on your post count and thread you started about the Vic. As far as a Mark VIII, we do not have the luxury in exhaust options like the Mustangs do. Our only options are either a set of $800 Kooks from SCP (disliked vendor by most here) that are Mark specific, Modify a set of Cobra headers to fit around our steering shaft(involves a lot of fabrication) or install a set of 96+ Cobra manifolds(03 04s being the most desireable). Nothing is a bolt on except for the $800+ Kooks. I am not positive and someone correct me if I am wrong, but Cobra manifolds are good for over 600 HP. Do you intend to be making that much power anytime soon? I know I won't.

Bingo.

I think I can count the VIII's on one hand that are over 500 HP.

These manifolds are more than "minimally" better than stock units. For those of you wanting to give Bill your money, go ahead.

I won't

I'll stick with the much cheaper option that just happens to support any level of HP I am aiming for.

I have the stock gen 2 manifolds with no cats. The piping can be done.

I've got a picture around here somewhere that shows the cross sections between the Terminator manifolds and the gen2 manifolds.

Someone cut them apart with a band saw, and laid them out. There is a considerable difference in port size and volume.

I understand the mods can be done, but for my money, I'll go with the cobras.

There is a big difference between the 01 cobra to the 03/04 manifolds.
I have measured them both with a dial caliper.
I would take a set of 01's over stock mark manifolds. "stove pipes"

I would also modify a set of long tubes before I would buy kooks from SPC.

What gave it away? :p

I guess the Marks are unlucky in that there are no direct fit headers except the overpriced Kooks..that's unfortunate. You learn something new everyday.
