Recently got a new mark that already had an aftermarket HID kit installed. I cant use the auto light feature because it will say headlamp error and wont come on. I have to go and turn it to off and back on. Is this because the kid is too high of a wattage?

Most info I have found is for gen 1's and dont say much on gen 2's.

You will need to use a relay kit and resistors to get auto lamp to work. I am in the same boat, I wired mine up directly to the original feed, without relays and resistors, and 90% of the time on auto lamp one or both headlights wouldn't fire. I installed a 35w kit, not a 50/55w kit, 35w is the lowest powered ones.

I have played around with turning on key and waiting for the lights to fire and settle, then start, but during crank they go out and don't come back. Could be a weak battery I guess, it has failed to start once and I had to jump it (but I think I left something plugged in over the course of 3 days).

I know my first mark had a 55watt kit and it did it. I was kinda disappointed when I got the kit in it did it. I have no information on the kit now but Id assume its a higher wattage too. I havent had a problem with not starting.

Hopefully someone who has done it before can chime in and point me in the right direction to fix it. The feature is so amazing at night.

I'm not sure what fixes the issue but al works on some and doesn't on others. It varies from kit to kit.
