Gen 2 - 97-98 Differences

What are all the differnces between 97/98 Models?

I thought i read somwhere that the 98 had thicker carpet or it was an option? Anyone have pictures?

I know the 98 tranny was upgraded (what exactly) and is there anything els?

I have a 97 Car and a 98 Evtm? Will this work?

How was the wiring between the years, any thing anyone else knows of besides the 97 alternator cover?

The 97 HID's were hardwired to the ballast on one side and the 98's they were both removable I think?

The later 98's got the better transmissions.

I've heard the opposite, that not even all the 98's got the better trans.

only early 97's hid's had tamper proof guards around the ballast to bulb connection, but you can still take it apart. late 97's got the round plug hid's and all 98's. i think all 98's had the good trans, the only real difference is the trans and color options, 98's also did not come with the intech alternator cover. carpet is the same 98 isnt thicker. your 98 evtm will work, only a few tiny differences other than that the cars are identicle in every way.

The 97 I bought had the one bulb hardwired in, but I took that :q:q:q:q apart... and XLRVIII got the bulb hooked into his 98 so it's not like its a big deal...

my 98 has chrome strikers (runs out to look.........yup)
only other things ive noticed is the jbl badge is a stamped piece where the 98 is smooth with the jbl logo "printed" on it, ive also seen some 97's that have the embossed star on the steering wheel where my 98 has a plastic insert. as far as the EVTM goes shouldn't be any major differences

These cars had so many changes in the middle of the yearly production runs, it's hard to keep up.

Wild stuff. This is what i was looking for.

My 97 Has chrome door strickers, one door speaker logoo is smooth the other is stamped. Perhaps it was changed?

Where can i get me some of these black door strickers?
