Does anyone know the location and wire color of the VSS wire? I'm adding a navigation to my 93.
This question will for sure come up in the future. I'm going to take a picture of it tomorrow morning as well.
Yeah I thought you answered this before Greg. Now I am pretty sure the gen 1&2 wires are different. I can go outside and look at my car to tell ya what color mine is hooked to if you want? I know my deck is getting the right trigger.
I would love to know this and which location you hit it at (I have a 98 Mark VIII); I've been googling/searching through this forum to no avail for a while now.
Would love to get my AVIC-D3 installed and this is the only hurdle I'm facing now. Thanks!
When you are using Pioneer navigation units, you don't need to hook up the VSS wire. The GPS antenna is real responsive and stays connected to the to the satellites. On the new Z110BT, and the F and X series Pioneer nav units, there's no VSS connection in the wire harness. So rest assure, you don't need it for a D3. The reason I am using the VSS on my install, is because I am installing a JVC KD-NX5000 nav unit, and I am unaware of how the VSS works on JVC's, so I am going to hook mine up to be safe.
I had issues with this particular unit in my last car (Cadillac Eldorado) not having the VSS hooked up.
Map position in rural WI wouldn't keep me on the highway. Hooked VSS up, haven't had similar issues since.
Bought the Mark VIII a week or two ago and the dash kit I'm using doesn't come out easily (Metra 95-5817), so I want to "set it and forget it" hopefully![]()
