gen 1 vs gen 2

ight so im sure this has been brought up before but after searching the threads i had no luck so my question is for the fastest time what generation is better is it the 30 less hp wire throttle or the 282 hp computer throttle....with the typical mods (cai,xcal,magnaflow) not nos or anything what one proforms better


also witch one is the all around better car

keep in mind it is a opnion so dont fight guys
 
the gen 2 are much better looking imo i dont like the way the old ones look the only pro the old ones have imo is that there is a custom supercharger for them i believe its only for 2000-2002
 
I know the fastest times I've seen and or heard are 14.2 by ILLS and 14.3 from 02LSE..... they both have spent tons of seat time, and both were running with teh same three basic mods. If you look at tommy's sig, the best hes gotten out of his 2nd gen is a 14.5! So first gen on second gen with same mods, it comes do to the driver and not so much the car
 
wow would of never guessed after all the "improvemnts" that the first gen is still almost the same as far as speed...i take it the times are 1/4 mile
 
The second Gen is better if you can get over the fact that you cant just rev it up to hear how cool it sounds for no reason at all.

It is less prone to problems and does look nicer. I still love the looks of my first gen anyways.
 
yup! hell the two were so similarly modded that they were even both tuned by the same guy!
 
you can rev a tuned first gen or second gen all the same.... and both had rev limiters stock
 
its weird my friend has a gen 1 ls i believe its a 01 and its the v8 and i have a gen 2 v6 why is it that wen we race were neck and neck i know he has more power than me but its weird idk and thats me racin with the 20 and he has stocks.
 
IIRC, you still have troubles with the drive by wire. It still lags so to say.

i think a gen 2 v6 is only alittl bit less powerful then a gen 1 v8 like 20 hp..maybe your just a better driver
 
i dont know about a true turbo... but i think there is a BDT or centrifugal sc in the works
 
yea thats what im talkin about any idea on how much of a diffrence it would make on the performance of a v6?
 
so if this mod was installed on a v6 what would my performance look like that of a v8 2005? because mine is a 2005 and its got like 232 hp and 230 torque i believe so i guess what im asking is 0-60 and 1/4 times a rough estimate im new to performance mods and this is actually the thing that will make me keep my ls because i was going to sell it before due to lack of performance parts. Thanks for you input guys

well thre really isnt any lack of proformance more like you just gotta spend alot more to have it custom made

I havent looked into the V6 stuff much at all. I can say that nothing is readily available for the v8 either. you need to find parts for other cars that work, custom make something, or find someone like the SC/Turbo/BDT guys who are making stuff and selling it

I will say damn near anything you can think of has been done for the V8's and it just needs the right guy to figure it out for the V6
