gen 1 vs gen 2

Most of the interior improvements are more just differences and subject to opinion. Different fabrics ane trim don't mean improved to me. I like the Gen1 seats better cause they have a sportier feel to me. I really don't like the Gen2 cluster at all. The Gen2s with the brushed metal and wood trim mix look like a mistake that slipped from the factory. Exterior is only slightly different, but the Gen2 single bulb tail looks cheap to me. Do like the Gen2 Headlights and grill better.

I will say the only way I'll own a Gen2 over my Gen1 LSE is a 04-05 Black LSE model. Seen one the other day and I could dig it.

+1 to that guy!

Heeeey.....Mine is a Gen 2....Non LSE.....And I like my interior just fine! I have no woodgrain......and thats the main reason! I got the "monochromatic" package with my V6. Has most of what the higher end V8s have. I guess... hahaha. Have heated and cooled seats, HID healights, LSE grille...... Pretty nice setup right off the lot. Was one of the "KLEENest" ones on the lot... and thats why I got it! LoL.........OK I am done!.....wait....see:

Sport model first gens had just enough. I dont know about the 2nd gens

IMO, they could have offered the wheel and shift knob in wood for the first gen sport as well as the little bezel under the inside door handle for all cars but thats enough. All that extra wood makes me wanna puke just as much as the brushed or aluminum or what ever its supposed to be.

Our cars mostly made out of aluminum, the last thing I want is a reminder of that with a Luxury car:D

It would have been cool if they offered different types of wood finish with the second gen.

From what I know my sport came with the woodgrain steering wheel and shift knob, unless of course the dealer did it before the guy bought it.

The very early sport package equipped LSes had the wood wheel and shift knob due to a shortage of leather ones. There was a TSB where the dealer would swap out the wheel and knob for owners that wanted the leather parts. It may also have been added by the previous owner.

I know for a fact that he didn't add it, it was his "company car" and all he had done to it was the bulletproof trunk panel and the starter disengage. I've seen a couple 1st gens that had the same thing but of course they could have swapped it as well. Mine's a 2001 would they have possibly done it from the factory?

Anything's possible. If the car was ordered they may have specified the leather wheel and knob.
