gen 1 vs gen 2

True.
The point being that the LS's self contained heated and cooled seats really are a hi-tech feature, as compared to the way some other cars do it.

In any event, if you live in a hot climate, they are handy to have.

If needing balls cooled on a hot day just have a girl blow them for ya :P

parts that make me love my first gen

you for got that the gen 2 also has 358 gears and the better 5r55s trans!

the 5R55S is not a better transmission - IMHO, it is more more prone to shift flare.

I've been luckly enough to track both cars, while 25+hp is nice - the Gen2 does loose some 'feel' with less steering feedback, less braking input and throttle-by-wire. So it really depends what you look for in a car - my other car is no power steering, no abs, no cup holders, no airbags, ....etc - so I guess I tend to favor the driving experience over the technology that seperates you from the car.

The center stack is brushed aluminum on all 2nd Gen LSes, so you could say it's both. The trim on the dash and doors is either aluminum or wood, though--and the wood is real wood (American walnut burl), unlike the plastic "woodgrain" on the 1st Gens.

That's funny, on both of mine the center is plastic. One of mine is brushed aluminum on the trim, and the aluminum is clearly different than the plastic in the center, so I disagree.

V6.....Not bad.....

thats cool bro let me know how that goes also does that k&n filter make any diffrence i know there is a kkm intake on lskoncepts but i question its true power it makes its almost like i can create something that will work better than that almost looks cheap imo

I have a 2005 LS V6.....With custom CAI. It sounds pretty F'in Sweet too!
Performance is taken up a notch. after I put my Exhuast on it should really be a little better....then I want to take it to a shop down here in socal who is a Programer and get my ecu flashed.......ahhh......all I need is $$$$$$!!!! LoL.

It Turned out ok.....but the pep boy uni.parts sumtimes comes loose.....well, the hoses, not the clamps.......So I am in the process of juss using my CAI as a blue print, and my dads friend is gonna bend me one custom, and weld on some smaller pipes so I can actually clamp the hoses down.
But don't get me wrong.....what I got works! hahha.....
Ok.....My 2 cents is over! L8rz!
-JJ

P.S.
BUILD THE BDT ALREADY!!!!! Geeeeeeez!!!!!!!
P.S. II
Heading on to a freeway on ramp......A gen I was behind me.....V8......and we both floored it, and we were pretty dead even! soooo......I dunno....

Are you sure it is real? I don't have any clue, but I find that kind-of hard to believe. Walnut burl is ridiculously expensive. I can't image how much they had to get to produce all of those pieces for each car. Straight walnut is pricey enough as it is.

My 06 has wood trim. I wouldn't call it real wood. It's certainly not solid wood. When you pull the trim, the other side is plastic like you would expect.

Hm, I always wondered if it was wood all the way through. It must be a very thin veneer.

Yes, it's real. It may be a thin veneer, but it is real walnut burl.

Here is why I like the 2nd gen... factory nav.

I just need to get rid of that stupid wood steering wheel now.

It's an issue on integration to me, not necessarily functionality.

The NAV dash looks fantastic. Its soo smooth and clean.

Mine Has No Wood At All Its Aluminum With Glossy Black I Like It Better Than The Wood Everywhere

The aluminum in this car makes me wanna puke. Im a fan of other types of trim depending on the make model and type of car but the wood fits this car better than any other trim type for it when done in proper moderation!

I just think the Gen1 was the original and they went a little different direction with the Gen2. While it gained a few ponies it lost some Sport IMO. Most of the interior improvements are more just differences and subject to opinion. Different fabrics ane trim don't mean improved to me. I like the Gen1 seats better cause they have a sportier feel to me. I really don't like the Gen2 cluster at all. The Gen2s with the brushed metal and wood trim mix look like a mistake that slipped from the factory. Exterior is only slightly different, but the Gen2 single bulb tail looks cheap to me. Do like the Gen2 Headlights and grill better.

I will say the only way I'll own a Gen2 over my Gen1 LSE is a 04-05 Black LSE model. Seen one the other day and I could dig it.
I will keep my Red 04 LSE Thank you very much.:)
