I was talking with a guy on another forum and ths is what he said about tranny problems with the Gen 1 Mark VIII's.

early 4r70w trannies have a problem when taking off from a stop or hard right hand turns. this happens because the pan isnt deep enough. later models got a dimple to fix this problem. a deep oil pan for $150 is safe cheap insurance.
Is this true? Because my car has the exact same problems and I was blaming the tranny. But could but actually be because of the oil pan?

He is not talkin about the oil pan, but the tranny pan. They make an upgrade with a dimple in it and a drain plug. :Beer

oh.....DUH!! Opps my bad. So it is true. Time to find ut how much that will cost to upgrade on my tranny!

Well I just left Maxx at Five Star Ford a message asking as to how much that pan would cost. Would it be smarter to get it from him or is this an aftermarket pan? And as to how much would this be running me?

My costs at time of shift kit install...
F8UZ-7A194-AA New style Pan w/ drain plug - $54.40
F6AZ 7A194-A New style Pan without drain plug - $19.99

The guy I was talking to didn't really get into it but my slips when I hit the gas from a dead stop or go around right turns and thats what he said was a problem for them so I fugured thats the problem with mine. So I figured I would do this instead of looking at $1000+ for a new tranny

Don't Forget The Filter For The New Pan Is Different Too!
Yeah I already talked to Maxx at Five Star Ford and I'm going to get the pan, drain plug, and filter for $42 or something like that. Being a Gold Member has its benefits!
