gen 1 sequential tail light write up

So what is the difference between Gen 1, and 2 setups? Really want to do this to mine.

Edit: just read the write up, thought they all had neons. So what needs to be done to swap to a Gen 1 setup?

Cool. any vid of the results yet?
I am becoming a good friend to a guy who owns an electrical shop through my job.
I am waiting for the right time to inquire about this and a few other Ideas I've had.
This seems pretty easy to install.

yeah buy a gen 1 car, you cant do this in a gen 2, and you certainly dont want to replace your rear clip just to say you have sequential tail lights!

thanks for posting that Jamie. I have been wanting to do this for literally years but never had the electrical knowledge to tackle this project myself. It doesn't look so scary now. I think Ill give it a shot. Thanks again Jamie!!

im trying it on my 93, what the hell why not!! the 97 is so sweet that i have to do something cool for my wifey!!

i might try to build a control circuit for mine so i can control the speed if i get adventurous but i might just make it so all the lights work on the bar as brake and turn...

that would be easy. Just run power to the light from the brake\turn bulb and dont use the running lamp power wire.

At least that sounds like it could work lol.

Thats awesome. I am going to do this soon. The only thing i will do diffrent is to solder the wires instead of use those connectors. I have seen them fail to many times.

awesome just ordered my kit....HIDs, Refurbished headlight housings, and now sequential tail lights...badass...and atleast i have a couple spare housings for when i have to dremel for the larger 1157 style socket...might look into the 3157 style socket instead seeings im in there already

lol no i want them to operate as tail lights too... good thought though... I would tape the wires, no butt connectors or those quick splices for me...

by going to the dual filament 1157 style bulb and socket, you will be able to run a blinker/brake light, and also run the running light on the other filament...my only question is...how will it react in a night senario...running lights on, stopped and making a turn...will it all work correctly? Guess ill find out when my :q:q:q:q comes in....i love it, totally changes out back...really lights things up, people will notice

i would be worried about the heat melting the inside of the light.

simple fix...for the running light side of the 1157 bulb put a resistor to lower the voltage...lower voltage less light less heat...they are only 194 bulbs anyways...and when blinker or brake, go full voltage for obvs reasons plus not constant on, wont melt housings

ordered a set, he said that he'd discount a group buy but the savings would have been small (about $14) if we got a group together because he would not ship to each buyer but to one central location. Can't wait to get it, a very helpful writeup, thanks for posting it.
