I guess in theroy since the car will run 20-30* cooler you could add another couple degrees of timing?

Don't see why not.

Keep in mind, The 03' cobra Radiator is NOT a drop-in mod. Mounts will need to be fabbed, and hoses will need to be bought/modified. I wish I could tell you what exactly, but it's been so long that I just can't remember.

Just do what I did and get the Griffin universal fit from Summit. It was under $200.00. Just weld the cap shut and make mounting brackets. The part # Griffin for our car was like $440.00!!! LMAO!

Close... 600 and change (shipped).

I thought about going your way when I did mine, Geno... But I figured, hell, the extra couple hundred ain't gonna break the bank, and it will be a "factory" fit.

Geno's way is a good alternative to a "custom" built Griffin.

I voted for the 3.73s, but then again I have a 5-speed too. When I put the gears in, I was worried that it wasn't going to be enough, but didn't want to go to 4.10s because I do a lot of highway driving with it, including going down to VA and NC, and something about holding a motor at 3K for 600 miles just doesn't sit right with me. 2600 though, is acceptable. After getting the gears in though, I am very pleased with them. Also, I have since ridden in a friend's cougar that we put 4.10s in, and in my opinion, that just completely destroyed the wonderful highway manners of that car. When he had the 3.73s in the same car though, it was a blast to drive on the highway. Actually, what I really miss on the highway is my 89XR7. With a 5-speed, and the 2.73s, I could cruise at 85mph at only 2200rpms, and get 31mpg while doing it. I need to get that car back on the road one of these days.

The Griffin universal was the exact height and an 1/8th inch wider. the fan/shroud fit like factory as well as the radiator itself.

Total cost with the tstat was $250ish.

ARRRRRRRGGGGHH... still i am undecided!

I have 3.73's sitting here... I talked to Bill @ SCP and he would let me trade straight up for 4.10's

I do alot of highway driving and I feel alot like Frog... Getting there in hurry is a blast but I think I would really love the low end grunt of 4.10's

I am so effing confused now...

My car will be S/C and all the supporting mods as well so will that make up for the "lack" of gear with 3.73's ?

Once again... ARRRRRRGGGHHHH

You know I am in the same boat, After talking with Geno, I also found out about the Driveshaft having to be REPLACED not rebalance due to our 2 peice units... thats an Extra 500 or so I was not counting on.. also still torn with 3:73' and 4:10's as the majority here are running 3:73's I think I will go 4:10's and have looked into the pricing its not that expensive... the whole gear change with upgraded D/S will run a total of 1000.00 to play with this mod... , I'm working to get it done peice by peice.. I got the locker, next will be the gears, then the D/S and then master rebuild kit for pumpkin.

We'll see where it winds up..

Next I'll be hearing my Trans need to be beefed up to handle the new rear... LOL:D

HAHA :D

Already got the d/s and a bunch of IRS braces...

I even have the gears sitting next to me with an auburn pro posi!!!

Talk about being torn!!!

IIf going blown then 3.73's. NA 4.10's all the way baby.

I'm pretty much sold on the 4:10's Geno the point was hit home HARD ok??? :)

I just have to save some more pennies before the gears can go in.

This will probably also mean a new tune on the chip right?

3.73s

I have 3.73s: its a good compromise between low-speed torque, sharp throttle response, and reasonable freeway RPMs. :shifty:

Its 2500 RPMs at 75 MPH now, versus 2200 RPMs before. The gears really woke up the off-line response, its driveable in-town now. Also had a '96 Cobra Traction-Lok put in. :)

I did have to add the tailshaft forced lube mod, as the driveline was noticeably whinier. Its much quieter now, with just a soft whine! (Yes, the gears are properly shimmed).
