G-RELL's Full PLasti Dip & Others

I cant recall the wiring colors but passenger side was same colors gen1 to gen2, drivers side had the high and low beam wires reversed if i remember correctly.

Right on Hite, had been wondering about it, am going to end up with second GEN headlamps in mine eventually. Thanks for confirmation.

Its hard not to love this color (or maybe its just the car) ... I'll put it to a vote if anyone would like....

Come on, you can do it! Camo green dip it is!

You will need a gen2 header panel and you will need to re-route the wiring to the under-hood fuse panel, fyi

You will need a gen2 header panel ...

Seriously, I thought I had seen Rollin do his up and showed pics of his fitment, no cap or at least he was able to fix it so little to no gap was noticed.

What!?!?!, honestly, can't just go from the wiring harness of the original connector, why not rewire at the lamp to fit the connections as apposed to running back to the fuse panel?

That I don't get.

The wire loom to the under hood fuse panel has to go thru the opening so the headlight mounting bolt will go in without pinching the wires. You dont have to wire the lights to the fuse box. Im sure it can be done another way but thats how we did it. See before and after pics above

IDK how rollin did his header panel. IIRC he said the guy that put it on had fabricated something to get rid of the gap. When I saw it in STL 2 years ago he still had gen1 lights in it so I didnt see how it lined up.

Ok, the visuals do it justice now, see what you mean, doesn't look like a big deal. 1000 thanks!

Yeah, I'll try and hunt back and see what he did, I do recall he was impressed with the fact that it left no gaps of sorts, I'll have a look.
Another option is of course for me to just get some GEN II lamps and get at it!

K, cool beans, thanks Lee ... oh and PS, send me all of G's GEN I tail lamps, he don't need them anymore!

it took 5 min to drop the washer tank and move the fuse box (once the covers and mounting bracket were taken of)... the box itself will barely fit through the body hole behind it... so not a big deal.

Amazing that's what it needs just to pop in another headlamp which should have been relatively the same.

true, but it the swap was quick... everything bolted up... You could probably get away with cutting up the 1st gen header panel to allow 2nd gen lights. But the headers pretty cheap and easy to swap (specially if you buy the whole car  )

US Navy option!

I imagine i'll stick with an Air Force color if I had to title it!

Looks Great

Sweet and classic,
A had same reaction, no idea was plastic dip. I like!!

Was so excited when I seen this thread updated, thought for sure, I'd see new pics of G's freshly restored GEN II (ha!) and done all up in Camo Green dip.

~ no such luck for now ... (waiting)

Yeah, LS took a back burner.. new house projects took the summer. I was thinking about starting a house thread, for all my (and others) projects... to show im doing...something. maybe in a different section of LVC... hate to get in the way of the repair threads....:)

Why so hard on the Air Force?

usually because they are not the front line going in., or stuck on a boat for extended periods of time with no where to go!

I hate them (not really) because of all their fancy high tech toys! cough cough F22 cough

*disclaimer: totally joking, I deeply respect every service man or woman, regardless of which branch they chose.

Ok

so I know everyone's been waiting for a new dip color, that was placed on hold for two reasons. A). was waiting on more info on the new topcoat (#autoflex).. and B) slammed with house updates since closing in June. At this point just about every room has had a project (closing some rooms off, building office, painting, game room etc). That said, the garage was the last project I thought I'd share....

It became the catch all from all the other projects, so excuse the mess in the pics below. Its all just about taken care of (waiting on trash day for the last bit). It took this project a bit longer just trying to work around it all. With it being not the largest two car garage, every bit counts, its about the same as my old garage (Pics above), there I just plastered everything to the wall. It certainly worked, but not my most favorite look for a garage.... so I set out to improve...Garage is a standard unfinished, two car (~22'x20 IIRC) a little tight for a LS AND expedition

It started with an awesome deal on these cabinets I found on CL (came out of an office building) nearly mint.. haggled down to $300... (12" deep. assorted lengths but a total off ~24')

Mapped out placement (including counting for the slope of the garage) AND added outlets (entire garage had one...ONE!!)

Storage was #1, so after cabinets, I bought a new tool box to replace by old Craftsman 8 drawer 30" box (kept the bottom as you'll see)...

52" 18 drawer (home depot for those looking)

And one for under the cabinets as a worklight..
I wanted something to protect, block/reflect light and clean the look, so to split a 2.5" PVC pipe in half to make a housing... I dont have a table saw, so improvised...

Simply amazing Bud, very creative, I did an overhead storage shelf similar like that myself as well. Wish I had a double garage though.

I honestly wasn't expecting it to this extend, my hats off to ya! ENJOY!!!

Rolling cart seems tipsy to me but I'm sure you'll keep an eye on it.

Holy sh!t. That is pure porn right there. Do both cars fit in there? Or did the wife kick out the LS?
