Freakin' Mark

I really feel a higher output alt is really overkill, and the higher output will only stress the diodes more. What I don't get is people have an amp and on the amp is has 2 20amp fuses, so the most ever ever it would use is 40 amps, they think they need a bigger alt. I recommend a ford/motorcraft alt, even if it isn't a lifetime warranty, how many time you want to replace and tow the car just because it has a lifetime warranty.

For uno- The 140 cobra alternator is a STOCK FORD ALTERNATOR.

For two- We are all talking about buying a NEW alternator from a Ford dealer.

For three- How MANY 10 amp, 20 amp, 15 amp, Even 25-30 amp fuses are goin' in the car at once? These cars were ahead of ther time and so was some of the tech. How many cars these days are running more then 140 amp alternators? They last longer and work better when you are in a snow storm with the rear defrost, Defrost full blast, wipers goin 90 mph, and an aftermarket system, with a set of HID'S........OOOOAAAAHHHHHHHHH [BIG BREATH] goin at the same time. And don't forget about your phone chargin.

I'm just say'in, 90 amp stock alt?

I thought the stock alternator was 120 amp and the Cobra was 130 amp.

Cool. I tried looking up the specs in the Ford shop manuals, but couldn't find them in there.

I think I still have the original (93-95) Mitsubishi alt - I'll have to check.

I did some more searching on the 'evil' site. :shifty:

The guys there 'in the know' say that the early Mitsubishi alt is 120 amp, but the later Ford alt for the Mark VIII (and Cobra) is 130 amp.

You are correct sir!:D

Still the cobra is the one to get IMHO

These cars how big power demands.

What I meant to say was the larger 200 amp and bigger aftermarket kind was overkill, Oh and the comment about HID's uh yeah they take like 1/2 the power of conventional incandescent headlights, just saying.
