For those who carry....

kimber .45 here. Stays in a shoulder holster on my person at all times. If i were to mount a holster in the car, it would go right by my right leg next to the shifter. i pity the foo who tries to jack my isht.

I was thinking near the shifter aswell. Cause if your sitting with it iwb or owb your not going to be able to get to it as quick...

I keep an unloaded 9mm in a custom built hole under the center console with a loaded clip next to the self destruct button.

I keep my 12 gauge semi-auto in the trunk with the clays and shells where it belongs.

My guns are packed under my tshirt, problem is they stick out too far so everyone notices them....oh wait, you meant handgun....I keep that in an undisclosed location awaiting the zombie apocalypse. :D

Keep the 9mm Springfield XDM 19rd loaded on the front seat. It's the law here that it must be visible in the car.

My gun becomes visible real quick once it's removed from it's holster and pointed. Does that count?

Lol Pektel man you are too funny. I don't think and hope that you have to shoot anybody while driving. No but seriously in VA if you get pulled over by law enforcment for whatever reason, they must be able to see the gun in the car if you have one. Which is fine for me because it's easier to just have it on the front seat in case something happends. Just pick it up and pull the trigger. How do you like the Kimber 45? I'm thinking about going with them for a 45 cal aslo.

Unless you have a Concealed Handgun Permit. ;)

A conceal weapons permit is not required to open carry in your car in VA. It's mandatory to have if you carry your weapon on your person, but you can open carry in public without a permit also. VA is a golden state when it comes to open carry in public.

Carry

On a somewhat serious note, I have always carried a 1911---Detonics, Kimber Ultra CDP II or Paris Custom Commander, just behind my hip bone and under a jacket or loose shirt. I've now started going 'kidney' position. I've found that there's less interference from the seat belt. And here in Michigan, you're required to place your hands at the top of the steering wheel, or otherwise in clear view, and declare that you're carrying when approached.

'Shoulder' holsters drive me nuts! Satanic things rub you raw, and beat you to death if you have to run!

A hand gun is for when you don't think you need a 'Little Friend'. If I think I might need it, I'll have my Ithaca 37 Riot Gun with pistol grip only, and a vented Poly-Choke.

I carry an RPG7 in the trunk, in case someone tries to steal my parking spot.
