For those thinking about changing gauge colors..

I might add that to my "wish list". Go figure, I just crossed one thing off, and now I've added another. It's no wonder I never have any money.

So... I've been following this thread for a couple days and its probably alittle late for me to ask this....

But, is this what you are doing... Take the overlay off, flipping it over, and sanding on the back side of the overlay? Only sanding over the numbers and dials of the actual gauges and steering clear of the idiot lights?

Correct.. I suppose you could sand them too (you can see I got lax in my attention and sanded a tad of the ABS light).. You would just have to add a colored LED behind them to get the color..

Kool. So without any colored LED behind them, they are white? I think I have been following this correctly

Fast, have you tried to take out your old Gen1 cluster?

My SC project is taking most of my time and I don't want to have the engine ripped apart and the dash/cluster at the same time..

This will most likely be a spring project.. If someone else wants to beat me, be my guest.. I'm in no hurry but it will get done..

Wont be me. LOL Im not spending another dollar until I get my rims delivered and mounted. Im just curious how hard it is to get the gen1 faceplate off. ill do this to my regular one in the spring or summer possibly.

I looked at the gauges last night, and I noticed...every display light in the car is that green. now imagine just the cluster white or another color, and the rest of the car with green buttons, its gonna look off, unless you change every green light- just not something to do to an LS. (unless) your planning on doing the shift lights, message center control buttons,heater/ac buttons, window buttons, steering wheel controls, etc.

I have a flip up dvd player that is blue also.. If you have the stock radio, I agree.. The lights can be changed though

haha, alone from the stock radio, you have the stock green heater controls, door buttons, ect.. i just pictured bright white light coming from my dash and then everwhere else a green glow, well see how it looks at night, still cant wait to see yours when its done though:D

your right, that is why this is a very slippery slope, and should only be tried by those with some serious time on there hands. once you go over the edge, your pretty much going to have to fall the rest of the way down...

I am up for the challenge, it is just going to take warm weather and patience... Learning how to take everything apart is going to be the most annoying.
