For those thinking about changing gauge colors..

Thanks..

I would say if you wanted say the temp gauge to be red or whatever, just change the LED. But I don't have a cluster so I'm just making assumptions

Yeah, your correct. You can put whatever colors were you want. The cluster has like clear light bars that direct the light to different areas behind the face.

Pics? Info? What did you do with the LEDs? Are they standard issue bulbs?

I was thinking sand it and put tint film over it.. The message center crap I mean

Info on that? ^

Wait so the message center and the mile counter is displayed white? Just with the green film over it?

You said it is overly bright.

Yep:

I figured it was green display shining through green film... Can anyone confirm it is white? If so I am definitely about to crack open my cluster and start sanding and adding film... lol

It's white for sure.. The other guy who did the color change way back when and never came back on just put tint film and it came out with smoked letters.. Which are cool..

Isn't the white at night b!tchen? :D

+1 on white my old car had white.

But dont do it unless you plan on making everything match.

just read your thread on sanding the cluster.. looks awesome, cant wait to see the final thing when its done, what bulbs are you going to go with for color?

I'm waiting for Alex to get done screwing around with his junk cluster he picked up for me to try and fab a way were we could switch colors..

The white is classy and I'm sure I want to keep that for one of the colors.. Then the other would be blue to match my cobalt gauges.. They are LEDs so they need to be wired in

wired as in soldering onto the board? or can we just plug new bulbs in, would the white, be a bright white, or a off white/yellow?

Bright white.. Soldering would be required.. I'm still throwing ideas in my head on how to switch the colors.. I know I can buy LEDs that have 'dual elements' (I know LEDs don't have elements but IDK what to call them) with three leads.. One ground and two powers.. One turns one color and the other turns the other color..

bright white sounds cool, im thining about tearing my open now, haha im not a fan of the alien green odometers:D

Cluster fits but you have to reprogram it to allow the car to run.. So I'm just taking the overlay and putting it in my Gen 1 cluster..

^
From that sentence, I assume you noticed I have a Gen 1.. :D lol

i meant the bulb for white, how white/bright is it? is it a hyper white, or a yellowish/ same for the display is it bright white? or does it look like a film is missing

The stock bulbs are white LEDs.. Everything stock is white and the overlay has color.. Not sure on the brightness yet.. Haven't gotten that far.. My SC project is taking most of my time and I don't want to have the engine ripped apart and the dash/cluster at the same time..

Look like the film is missing?
