Came from Summit yesterday. I would've bought them local, but they were $60-75 more than Summit. 207.90 shipped. Probably take me a couple days to install them. Because I have to pull one of the bolts, and bring it to the hardware store to get the longer ones and the clips to hold them in place.

A trusted member here recommended these, so I figured what the hell.

Nice. Let us kno how it goes. Also nice countertops and wine decoartion.

I've thought about those, but I want a cover that works with them. Everyone that runs/ran those can't reuse the valve cover since the coils are taller.

Thanks. countertops are 3cm thick granite. It's a display at my office. Directly behind my desk.

Sure you can. You just can't reuse the coil covers :p

Once it's off, it should be easy to fab a spacer since it'll just be sitting in the garage. Maybe I should have someone give it a shot. What material? billet aluminum?

yea yea....coil cover! I wouldn't think making new covers would be that hard either. I mean a little cardboard and duct tape should work. Seroiusly though billet would be a good choice, wonder what it cost now days?

I'll ask a couple fab shops around here once I pull the covers off.

I thought about this when mine needed doing.. You could glass some new ones and add 2-3 inches on the length.. Then possibly paint to match your car?

Just a thought.. That's what I want to do and have LINCOLN across them in white.. BA IMO :D

Sounds like a really nice mod.

I have no idea how to do fiberglass stuff.

Go to autozone and get your some cork gasket maker sheets and make you a spacer. Then if you want you could just fiberglass around the sides so you could sand and paint, but still have the seal from the gasket. If you need a 1" gasket then just use an intake manifold spacer and cut to fit. It is made out of cork as well.

Never even thought of that. Good idea

No problem. You have helped me out plenty of times. Oh laying a piece of fiberglass that small would be easy. You cut the fiberglass sheet to the size you need, pour out enough resin to cover all the fiberglass, mix in the correct amount of hardener according to how much resin you poured, and then take an old paint brush and spread the mixture over the fiberglass sheets you cut.

If you make your spacer too tall or these bolts may become even harder to deal with....the one closer to the brake booster especially. It is already the worst bolt to deal with IMO. I'm thinking about getting the same coils but I dont want to use the fender washer or a "clip". A few questions i've been pondering...Do the Accel coils run hotter than a factory COP? If so...would installing a cover lead to excessive heat buildup causing failure? What about a vented cover with a vent towards the front of the cover where its least likely to collect water? When I upgrade my coils I'm considering fabricating a custom braket that has rails that bolt to the VC where the cover bolts on and have flat bars connecting the two rails directly over each coil to hold them down in the hole securely. I just need to know how far above the VC the top of the coil sits. I'm learning to TIG weld so im going to use 3/16" x 1/2" aluminum flat bar. Anyway...just a few thoughts I thought I might share

You might be able to have a body shop do it.. I was thinking that if you put, just on the very top, two or three pieces of cardboard, then used blue painters tape and put tape over the whole thing, then glass over the whole thing. That's what I did, minus the cardboard, to my trunk and it seems to be working fine.. Knock on wood.. I haven't had the time to put one more layer on so I can pull it out..

Can you post pics of how you secured them when you're done? And list the hardware needed? I'd greatly appreciate it, Thanks!

That why, in theory, if you just bump out the raised portion, you won't have this problem. I haven't tried it so I really can't give you a definite answer there. But if the whole thing is raised, you would have to compensate for the loss of bolt length, making it even harder to get the bolt in and tightened..

Why not just leave out that PITA of a bolt? It's only one, wayyyyy in the back, is it going to make that big of a difference?

After a trip to 3 hardware stores, I found the longer bolts I thought would work. Nope. At least not with the washers I bought. So after fiddling with it, and a quick few text messages to Sully, here's what I did:

I just reused the stock bolts. The coils have a little play in them to get the holes to line up enough to get the bolt through. This holds a lot tighter than my original plan.

But, the possibility of doing different covers is now out of the question. The location of the plug on top of the coil is about 135 degrees counterclockwise from the stock location, making the wires stick out further than the stock cover would - cover.

Nicely done! Do you notice any difference in how it runs with these coils? Any "seat of the pants" difference?

I don't think so. I mean, there's more power now and it runs better because I don't have a misfire anymore, but I don't think there's any more power than how it was before the misfire.
