So two days ago I was messing with my car and trying to install some relays that used the puddle light to switch on the angel eyes and keep them on with the puddles. As I finish and lock everything up, my radio turns on as I'm walking away. I open the door and close it but it's still on. I turn the ignition on and off and then it shuts off when I open the door this time.

Yesterday morning, it was raining a little so I turn on my wipers, they jump once and stop working. My girlfriends tell me a light isn't working as she's walking to the car, so I pop the hood to see if a wire was left exposed on the relays, they weren't by the way. When I opened it, the wipers go on. While going to school, the wipers would occasionally jump on with bumps on the road. I get to school and take my key out of the ignition and my seat and steering wheel retract like always,BUT then, it jerks back and forth for agood 20 seconds.

I get home from school and try to make the radio come on by locking the car, but nothing, it worked like it's suppose to. Not knowing what else it could be I rip off my 4 hours of work and wiring and it seems like things are ok now, dont know why though. I wake up this morning and hear my radio on, bumping. Try to turn my car on and my battery is dead so I jump it.

So wipers dont work, horn doesn't work, radio has a mind of it's own. No air bag light, radio buttons work but I did not check cruise control yet.

Horn doesn't sound with the panic button or when I lock it. Tested the wipers and they didn't work right now. I pop the hood open with the wiper nob turned on all the way and as soon as the hood opens, they turn on. Close the hood and they keep working. Lock the car and the horn sounds. I read that the wipers were not linked to the steering wheel so whats the deal here, plus the radio thing.

tried to go out for s pin to check the cruise control but noticed, now thats it's dark, that the cluster lights dont come on.

Sorry for the long essay.

You may have damaged your FEM. Check all the fuses, in all three fuse boxes. Of course, the hood thing makes it sound like a loose wire or ground somewhere. Look very closely and every wire and screw the you disturbed.

Set it on fire and walk away. That sounds like a serious pain in the ass problem. Best of luck to you. I'd try to get a copy of the wiring diagrams and go through system by system.

Did you get the original plan to work?

Yup it worked. It was cool. I felt like a genius cause a month ago I didn't know what a relay really was, then all this happened and I felt dumb for even messing with it.

I did ground a wire for the realay that got me thinking it was making bad contact. I just cut it off but last night I actually took the screw off and the wire out completly. I was trying to find what it was ground for in the wiring diagram, but then again I'mkinda lost when lookind at tha book .

It the ground that is directly behind the left passenger headlight.

This one. It was on really tight but who knows, maybe it was the cause

not to make you feel any less like a "genous" but i believe it is spelled genius  lol

lol. Yeah fixed it. The O is right next to the I, finger slipped. :p

So anybody know what that ground is for?

For just a second, I thought that you had fixed your car, you genous!

So right now my radio kept turning on when I would close the dooor and my steering wheel kept going back and forth as if I was puttin the key in the ignition. I popped the hood and it stoped. How does they tie together. I didn't touch any wires from the steering wheel just the puddle wires and headlight. WTF

In common with all of those things is the FEM.

I still don't understand why opening the hood affects this. Try this experiment. Open the hood, but then press or tape down the hood open alarm switch and see if it now acts like when the hood is closed.

I did it the second day. It only partly worked once, for a split second but not again. By the way, yesterday was the longest it did that. It did it for like 20 min. But I'll go what you said again.

Tried to get it to go crazy on me but it wouldn't do it. Before It would do it if a closed locked the door. I opedned the trunk and closed it and that radio turned on and the steering wheel started twitching. Opened the hood and it stopped. Now I can't get it to do it again to do what you said.

Wheels started twitching?

There is a sensor to tell if the hood is open, maybe check the wiring for that since it stops evertime you lift the hood.

Sorry I meant steering wheels. The radio turning on, the steering wheel and seat moving happen when you place the key in the ignition, but it does this with nothing in there. I dont know everything the FEM controls but if it controls that then maybe I did damage the FEM. I did accidently drop the power wire on it touched a bolt with ground and did a spark, maybe I damaged the FEM that wh, but why only that? It has not done the phantom turn on events since this morning. I can't test it out now.

Problem solved I think, I hope. Do there was one wire that I forgot I touched. It's in between the filter and the headlight. I was going to mount the relay there but found a better location. I only unscrewed it a little and left it when I found the other location. Good thing remembered. I took the ground wire off completly, locked the car and pressed the "close hood" button, and guess what, the radio turned on and wheel went crazy. Screwed it back on tight and it didn't happen again so far.

Well now i really feel like a genuos, yes I know it's speeled wrong but I feel like a genius

:slam

This is the ground that was loose. I dont get how this being disconected turned those things on.Oh well, atleast it's fixed. Now I feel like re-doing all my angel eye/puddle light relay wiring.
