i have used limewire for years but apparently it doesnt work anymore, anytime i search for an artist it just loads and loads until the box turns 100% blue but it never displays any results anymore. i cant get any new music, i still have my library on it but i cannot add to it anymore. what other programs are out there that are free to use? i like to burn my own mixes of music to listen to at my shop and i'm due for new selections lol.

My Limewire does that sometimes - i uninstall it and reinstall the latest version. (or same if no new one exists) Be interested to know the alternatives too! Dang Limewire always gives me viruses and spyware! :(

I DL'd Utorrent, then I get the actual uploads off of websites like Mininova.com and Thepiratebay.com. Some Malware slips but they try hard to keep it out and as soon as it gets reported it usually gets pulled.

No matter what it is or where I get it even if its a DL from Cnet or something I make sure my Aniti Virus software is able to detect something before I mess with the file. I use AVG.

Limwire is garbage! Torrents are the way to go. I would post links but Im not sure if its allowed. And Jamie CHECK YOUR PM!!!!

Its exactly like limewire so I wouldn't see why not:)

Considering you can get working versions of Limewire from it I would think its way better:D

psssst, I have over 200gigs of free sh*t from torrents:shifty:

Less virus better stuff
And you can also obtain the essential software for taking care of said viruses.

LOL yup. You can pretty much get whatever you want. If you want midget clown porn Im sure you can find it. LOL

i just reinstalled limewire now it works fine, must have been missing a file or something, even kept all my stuff too so i dont need to start over!!

Post some torrent links. I have been debating using them because I heard they were THEEE most unsafe thing to use. But now that we have some people on here using them have you had any REAL problems?

As far as P2P nothing compares to limewire that I have found yet. I use a website which I will post if its acceptable, however to gain access to the forums you must upload and get stats then you can have access to almost all over sub-directories. Its mainly a hip hop forum.

Response to ONEBADMK8:

I downloaded a movie torrent about 6 months ago. My ISP sent me an email with the exact movie title basically telling me not to do it again. The connection is not secure so they can monitor it, I haven't downloaded a torrent since then. I was signed up with a website which offered SSL for a price and I was downloading sometimes upwards of 40 gigs a day and my ISP had no clue. I stay away from torrents now. But thats me.

I have been using Torrents since torrents have been torrents, same with Mirc. The internet is full of malware. Limewire has the most I have ever seen same thing all those p2p's like it..Kaza..all that BS. For sh*t sake you can go n a website these days and get infected without even DLing anything!!! Limewire was also forced to submit every single users info to the authorities!!

I never had my isp contact me either.

All I can say is your anti virus must suck and your PC aint protected worth a damn:) . 2 out every 50 torrents I get are infected and thats if I am being reckless and my Anti Virus warns me way before it can be executed. All you need to do is read the details and general info which all gets posted and if you are wise enough you can most of the time pick up on it then. Also with sites like mininova and thepiratebay you have users that leave comments,... no one says you need to trust them but the second someone calls it out as being fake or infected it gets pulled. You can find lots of legal stuff from torrents as well.

Posting links to torrent uploads is pointless,... I wouldn't ask for them basically because with out the U torrent downloader thing its pointless.

Also, there is a thing that is identical to limewire called frostwire. The speed of both can not compare to the speed of U Torrent.

I just gave that Frostwire a shot for the hell of it since some limewire users are crossing over and man it went so slow. I did a DL of the same exact thing,... same exact upload with U Torrent and Frostwire and the U Torrent finished, the frostwire one is still only at 2. some odd % and the Frostwire has some supposed Turbo Charged speed enhancer??? Garbage!!

Ive been using torrents for a few years now and Ive never had any email or anything like that happen. Some internet providers will monitor your use and will turn your net off if you use to much bandwith. Besides that Ive got probly 500+ movies and no problems yet.
www.mininova.com
www.isohunt.com
http://thepiratebay.org/
http://www.demonoid.com (you gotta sign up for this one but its probly one of the best places to get music from)
And I use Utorrent http://www.utorrent.com/
Oh. And READ THE COMMENTS BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD!!

I have read of some people getting that same message but it basically is a invasion of privacy and a few smart users got around that.

99% of the time Demonoid gives me problems with videos and software. Some videos/movies are in bad formats ( TS and what not ) and force you to basicaly put them on DVD or do a ass load of stuff to convert them to things like AVI which is what I prefer since I network my PC to my media player and play on the BIg Wide screen. I never got music from it yet.

torrent crashed my whole system twice...but it is the lastest and greatest thing out right now...p2p isen't as big as it was anymore when napster when down kazza took over but p2p isent what it used to be...anything you do will attact virus's so be careful and back up your system often

I use BITTORRENT for movies and music as well as software and i havent run into any problems. I just recently downloaded Hancock it is in DVD quality.

TS isnt a format its a type of feed for the way the movie is recorded. I havnt had any problems with them but you know diffrent people and diffrent pc have diffrent problems.

Its: VIDEO_TS
They come with a few of them and some other things, those are the only ones that stump me.

OH..... Those are a direct copy of a dvd kinda like a .iso or a .bin .cue You need DVD Shrink to burn them to a DVD. But from the way you watch your movies you'll wanna stay with .avi or mp4 formats. VLC is a great player to use. It will damn near play anything. Not sure what player you use to watch your files on.:)

They are a pain in the ass is what they are but you are right. Its a direct copy of whats on the disc. I can handle iso's I convert lots of stuff to iso and vice versa but those things suck. I wish people would handle those properly before they upload.

VLC cant handle them either. Supposedly one of them is all I need but I try out each one and none of them work.
