I'm done with it. New air bags, new solenoids, new relay, new compressor, new height sensors. Before I spent 6 hours this weekend putting in the new compressor from American Air and new front air struts, it would at least pump up to 4x4 height once in awhile, now nothing at all, it's completely slammed to the ground, I've dumped $900 into it for the air ride and should have gone with the coil conversion. I don't know where else to go with it, so today I will buy a new car and have the first car payment I have had in over 10 years.

Thanks for a great ride and a great time here on the forums, I'll still be around as I think I will be buying a new Lincoln =)

Not being a smart ass or rude or anything, but if you read my post I do mention in there that I did replace the relay. I actually have 3 relays and have tried all of them.

....isn't it less expensive to buy the coil conversion than a new car?

went thru this just this past weekend it was the Air Ride computer that was the culprit.....50ish dollars from a salvage yard... no biggee

That is what happens when the air ride repairs are put off.
It kills the bags, the compressor the relay AND the computer.

sorry to say, but.. you've ALMOST got it fixed.

Think about the above said because I might be flying out again soon to snatch another one. $50 to $60 for an air ride computer or monthly payments, exceeding well over that limit.

So even though it occasionally aired up, it can still be the computer? I didn't put off any repairs, the bags have been on for awhile, did that as soon as it showed signs of dropping overnight, did the solenoids with them. A couple weeks ago when it threw the check air ride light, I was at highway speeds and it never came back up from cruising height. When the temp dropped to F%$#ing freezing from 40+ degrees, it dropped to the ground overnight and then it pumped into 4wd monster truck mode and stayed there. I decided I might as well get a new compressor figuring it was the dryer/vent solenoid giving me problems. I guess I can try the computer as I have seen a couple on Ebay and such.

Please do because $50 or so on a computer vs. monthly payments is something I'm sure you really don't want. One on ebay now for $49.99 and another one cheaper but I don't like his feedback numbers.

Hell I don't need my air ride computer anymore since my coil conversion.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

ALso, mines a Gen1, but I don't think they changed them.

I'll send you it for $35 or so.

That is what the car I was working on this weekend did.
It even said "air ride ok" as the car was slammed to the ground, it pumped itself up sporadicly, then.. simply wouldn't raise the car at atll.

I cant say "for certian" you have a failed computer, hell it COULD be a broken wire that is intermittantly causing the issue.

Since these cars have over 90 miles of wire in them I would FIRST make sure all the components are good, before I took a 90 mile trip tracing wires...

OR.. you could sell it?
*shruggs*

just sell it to me cheap :D

nah, i would try the computer first- it would suck to get a car payment, and hear a 50 dollar part owuld ahve fixed it

Thats what I was gonna say. New computer helped out his issue. Maybe it will help the OP. :)

I'll try it, not hard to replace since I got intimate with all the components over the last 6 months. New struts, solenoids, height sensors, compressor, control arms, pads, rotors...hell, what's one more trip under the plastic fender cover LOL

If you have one and you take Paypal wood_e I'll gladly take you up on that offer, just let me know.....

I'll sell it if I get the right offer of course although I would rather keep it and keep it on air. If I wanted a car on coils like the Mark, I would have bought a Thunderbird.......

Not going under the fender. Just remove the trim piece under the blower mototr and maybe pull out the glove box. Its the black metal box behind the blower motor. Get a 1/4" drive small ratchet and a 7 or 8mm socket on the bolt and slowly back it out. The box will easily come out after that.

I need to make sure the air suspension computer doesn't effect anything else before I can safely say I can sell it. I think it might run something for the ABS....

Anybody know if I can remove it without issues?

LaserSVT - Hmmm, I hadn't gotten around to looking up where that particular module is located, thanks for that. That also brings up something very interesting. Last summer I had the issue where water was leaking in and shorting out my blower motor due to the seal being bad under the hood, I fixed it and all was well. My question is, since that module is in the same location, could the moisture have corroded the contacts or wires on it and only now 6 months later I am getting the effects?

and I never actually got to thank you for your assistance Bill.

THANKS BRO, you really bailed me "and troy" out on that one.

Cant wait til our next "safety meeting"..lol

Sounds like a lot of work when the air ride system goes out. If you do swap to the coils how would you go along deleting the air ride check system from your computer?
