I'm going with 4.10's because I have an econobox to drive daily.

sorry, couldnt get it out today. screwed up my lower back shoveling what little snow we got.. if i'm good tomara it will be shipped.god it f'n hurts.

People talked me into 4.10s over 3.73s, I went to myrtle beach last summer 1500 miles round trip I averaged 23.5 mpg. Just hated how much rpm I was turning at 90 keeping up with the traffic on i95.

I have no hesitation with putting my 4.30's in... just haven't done it cause I don't have the $$ for the drive shaft :D

I won my 4.10's tonight on Ebay. Only major part to go is the converter and some small odds and ends I need.

How much did you score them for? I found a somewhat local set new in box for $75 I think I am going to grab.

I didn't do as good as that. I paid $89 plus shipping which is still cheap. I paid $86 for the T-Lok new and $200 for the MMX driveshaft. Lasers computer programmed with no speed limiter should (hopefully) take care of that part. I do need a master install kit. The one thing I haven't done is set up gears, so I am not sure if I am going to try and tackle that or not.

laser i went with 3.55's instead of 3.73's because i do alot of highway driving and you can't tell a difference from the stock gears. I've had a few with 4.10's and it is by far the most fun. I've never tried 3.90's but for the price of the motive gears brand new I think they sound like a good deal. They get alot of good reviews too. Kinda splitting hairs on a dd though.

3.55s are a waste of money on these cars. 3.73s minimum and personally I wouldn't bother with anything less then 4.10s and plan on 4.30s or 4.56s in the future. Everyone is different with what they want or how they plan to use the car though which is why they make so many ratios in the first place.

i was gonna go with 3.73s.....

but i ended up getting a set of 4.10s because they sound like too much fun to pass up:)

i also got a 4'' driveshaft and a 255 walbro pump to put in at the same time.

does this require a immediate tune? cuz i wanted to wait untill i do the jmod and slap in a 3500-3800 stall converter. i gues i'm asking what mods require a tune?

sorry for temporarily borrowing your thread. heh

No worries, I do believe you need to tune for the gears. Otherwise you will be limited to about 80mph until it's tuned for the gear.

I'd wait on the tune until after your trans work, unless it's gonna be a long time until it's done... The Jmod, stall, and gears all affect how the car is gonna shift, makes more sense to get it all done and then get it to shift how you want.

You'll be limited to about 96-97 without the tune.

thanks i was gonna spread it out over about 6 months. i guess i'll just wait to do it all at the same time then.
