I am getting the LS detailed and it's being shipped out to auction. In the meantime, I have started my search for a low mileage, 06, light color, black interior, LS.

My decision is based on a couple of members cars here. I just love the way the light colored 06's / LSEs look. The black interior, which I think is very good looking, covers the entire headliner, door panels, everything. In some cars, a black interior still has gray or beige door panels or headliner.

Now, I had an idea that I am not sure is realistic. I think the best color on the LS is white, or that pearl white. Not sure what it is called. But you can't get it with a black interior. How hard would it be to change a camel interior to an all black interior? Seats, Carpet, headliner. How would I paint the dash and the door panels. Is this even possible? Has anyone ever done this?

Regardless, I will post some departing pics of the LS, and will update everyone when I get hold of hopefully a Silver Birch with black interior 06.

Planned mod list:

Radar detector + laser jammer hard wired , hidden + reflector film materials on headlights (all this working together works extremely well, as I've witnessed)

LED puddle lamps, plate lamps, brake lamps, signals, all LED.
LED fogs (or something brighter than stock.)

Interior LED's.

Going to put in the same K&N intake I have now. Stock is going on the blue one before auction.

Exhaust. Looking at possibly third cat delete and magnaflows, like one of the members recently did.

Tune.

Some engine mods. Don't know what I will do yet. The same guy that does my Olds 442 (Oh yeah..i got a 1980 olds 442 :D), will see what can be done on the lincoln.

Jaguar staggered wheels.

That's all that I can think of.

Sounds like a great plan. I thought you were leaving the ls for something else. It's great to see you getting another ls. I was thinking of upgrading to an 06 as well, a white one for sure and low miles. Oh and on mine it's called ceramic white pearl tri-coat. I love it and how nice it cleans up.

what year is yours?

There is no "3rd" cat on the '06. It has the same set-up as the 1st gen. At least both my '06s do; and my wife's was purchased new, right off the showroom floor.

I think he means the part in between the mufflers and resonators. Everyone think it's a cat, even the guy at the shop said, "hey we took of your cat becuase it was empty".

Actually, the part between the resonators and the cats. But, essentially the same we're talking about the same part.

I thought it was after the res, but it has been a long time sine I took it off.

Oh, I actually thought there is another cat. Whatever it needs to sound just a bit more aggressive. I like the tone of the Jag kxr, or the bmw m5. That's what I am aiming for.

In the meantime...meet the other girl. She's from Texas. so you know shes good. ;)

Sorry for the disgusting cell phone vid. Will try to get something better up soon.

I wouldn't think changing out the interior to black would be that hard. It might take some patience and hard work, but can be done.

Mine is an 05 ultimate.

Why upgrade only 1 model year? It would be, IMHO, quite costly to change the interior color; I would imagine over a grand.

I always wanted to do the change to the black interior, but paint is way to much work and to find a car to do the switch is to expensive. Still I dream of the day I might do it.

I remember an 00 ls that was white and came with black interior. How many miles does yours have? mine has 118k so switching to an 06 with maybe 40 would be good for my miles. most switch to an 06 from a gen1 so that makes more sense. Unless yours also has a lot of miles like mine, it wouldn't be worth it in a way

I just rolled 152K last week. I'm on the lookout for a replacement engine/trans for when these bite it. I like my gen 1.

As far as painting the dash, you'll need to remove the windshield to get proper coverage. Remoev the door panels and paint them while they are off the car. I would use SEM vinyl "dye". It comes in a spray can.

Check it out here:

In addition, you can dye your existing carpet black to save money as well.

The only things I would not dye is anything that sees a lot of wear, like the seats. maybe get the headliner/pillars reupholstered.

ive painted a few dashes before, most of them, including the LS, have a plastic piece that you pull out to be painted, it makes getting up to the glass easy. after that, you just tape off the windshield/parts, and finish the rest of the dash

Good decision... However your car is already nice??

Thanks for the comment. I like my car also, but I want to be in an LS for another 2-3 years at least. Mine has almost 60K miles. I just like the look of the lighter exterior, and I could swap for about 3K to a newer one. Like I said, I want to put some custom work into the LS so getting the color that I want makes sense.

any buyers? :shifty:
