cooling fan

Sniper actually controlling fan speed is a myth-I made the mistake of buying one, more for that purpose than any other, and it has NO influence on when the fan goes on-and if you try to get help, they all hide...all a Sniper does as far as I can tell, is increase line pressure for the trans, all the other 'parameters' are in their imagination.
 
Alright, I'm going to try just one last time.

Quit :q:q:q:qing around with the fan, and try to figure out what's wrong with your engine!

What caused your cats to clog?

The picture of the hole in the piston indicates detonation, possibly caused by a lean A/F mixture.

Not overheating at idle, but overheating while driving also indicates a lean cruise problem.

Have you pulled any DTC's?

Based upon what you've posted here, I'd suspect one of the following:

Bad fuel pump
Clogged fuel filter
Kinked fuel lines
Bad injector(s)
Bad O2 sensors
Bad tune
Bad PCM

The only way to know for sure is a Wideband O2 and some datalogging.

Since you don't have any serious mods, the first thing I'd suggest that you do is stop using the Sniper and return the car to the stock tune.

Is your car even running right now?
 
sniper is full of glitches and problems. and trust me, if you wire your fan on high for good you will burn your car to the ground. the fan drams serious amps a normal operating mark VIII will heat the fan wires up so hot you cant hold onto them specially in the summer. you wont have engine problems when you set the whole car on fire. figure out the real problem, dont go making more by half assin it.

Funny you brought that up. I wired up a Mark VIII fan to my TBird (the plug just plugged right in). I figured it was good, but noticed it ran on high speed all the time. Well, after about 6 months (I'm surprised it lasted that long), it finally burned up.

That's when I learned that the Mark VIII is a speed-controlled fan, not a low-speed, high-speed relay driven fan like that 'Birds.

the motor is currently under construction at friend of uncles garage being done in spare time as a favor,with me as well as much as i can help and do from my chair. we are going to fix the cooling problem,but if the :q:q:q:qing fan never came on high or just stayed at low thats a problem.i bought the car 2 years ago, a month after i bought it is when i got the exhaust done when i found the problem with the cats. i had thermagasket in it for a year and a half before it failed, causing the overheating , grenading,whatever i was in the rain , fresh out of the hospital from being paralyzed trying to get off the highway drove it a bit too long. bought motor at boneyard said they would guarantee it works for 30 days, kept swallowing water while i was arguing with the guy i got the motor from which obviously was bad ,runs smooth, just overheating, decided to rebuild it, is where im at now. thats how i noticed the fan always stayed low. with the new motor ready everything done right will find out what the :q:q:q:q is going on. i have pics of the process im just waiting on the completion of project to get it all down. i was relooking into the cobra intake after reading your thread at LOD, but dont want or have the extra money or knowledge of process right now, although with motor already out and apart it seems easier i just would like to actually TALK to someone who has done it (correctly i might add, sir bravo).pm me with # id like to ask a few questions.

well its easy enough to plug another one in, then turn your ac to MAX AC and see if the fan is spinning high speed, if it does, then problem solved. super easy.
