OK, I know I started a thread about this a few months ago but I felt this deserved a clean start.

I just bought a LOW mileage termi pumpkin, and am going to fit it in the 94. I have ordered a set of Fenco Reman Cobra Halfshafts, and am HOPING to be able to shoehorn them into VIII chassis with no modifications.

What exactly are the dimensional differences (length please, I already know the spline differences) beween the Stang and the VIII units? I am THINKING that there is enough play between the inner and outter joints to compress/ extend an inch overall.

If that is'nt enough, I'll chuck the shafts in a lathe an extend/shorten them as I need. I'm just trying to avoid that at all costs.

For those about to say (it's not worth it to convert to 31 spline)..........

I know this, but got the pumpkin CHEAP, and it is already 3.55 and trak-Lok'd. I don't have to buy a new Differential, Gears, bearings, and pay someone to set it up. For 150 bucks total (plus my labor), i'll be running the gears I want with very little hassle in it.

Some insight would be appriciated into this matter.

Thanks guys.

Mike

Thanks Driller.

I'll give em a call tomorrow.

As SOME of you already know, I was at the mustang salvage yard this morning and had a pretty productive day.

I picked up the pumpkin mentioned in the 1st post of the thread, and as I was getting back in the VIII, one of the techs came out of the shop to look over the 94. anywho, we got to BS'ing and I asked about a set of cobra calipers and brackets.

He told me to go inside and tell the owner that he sent me in about the brakes. Needless to say, I got the pictured Baer engraved PBR calipers, brackets AND pretty much brand new cross drilled and slotted rotors for............................50 bucks. :D

Seriously there is some rust on the non-friction surfaces, but NO wear lip whatsoever........Anyway, now that I found THIS deal, I have less than 500 dollars in my complete hub swap. Max just shipped out my 03 Cobra Rear driveshaft flange, so NOW I need to get a 1330/1350 converter U-Joint to make it work with my MMX Driveshaft.

The supercharger pictured was another craigslist find. I have it torn apart waiting for a poly drive coupler and roller bearings to replace the ball bearings for the driveshaft...........Well that, and to have the snout shortened for the B-head/Eaton intake.

Comming along one day at a time.

Mike
