I looking at getting THIS intake. I'm also watching the lower intake on a different auction. Will this mount to the B heads? Is this a decent price? What else not listed will I need to get?

No, it will not mount to B heads. That intake is C head specific. You need the intake from a 96-98 Cobra along with an intake tube and fuel rail if you want to keep the EGR. You can use the Mark VIII fuel rail (tight fit) if you use a block off plate. The throttle body can be flipped and reused.

You sure? I thought the 99 Cobra was B heads as well?

In that case, I was looking at THIS as well, but way more than I wanted to spend.

From what I understand you reuse the Mark VIII IMRC's which is what I will be doing, so you do not need that extra junk. That intake is brand new. I bought mine for $300 BIN with EGR, IAC and throttle body attached. I had to find the intake tube and fuel rail. They pop up on the Corral and on Ebay frequently. If you find a buy it now of $350 or less I would pounce.

GMan I am going to let you in on a little secret that I have. I got a guy that is willing to sell me a Cobra intake for $300 shipped! He is on corral.net! I talked him down a little bit but I had to spend the cash on something else so I can't get it. I told him to sell it if he could. He should give you the same deal. Hold on a minute and I will get you his name!

This is all strange, and I am going to have consult my mechanic. The above picture I took is from a Cobra that was brought into his shop about three months ago. The customer was a 25 year old girl and shortly after she took it the supercharger went out. She couldn't afford another one. The heads were redone with racing cams and was real lopy. She didn't want all that, he bought a used 97 Lincoln Continental motor and put the heads on that block. New manifold gaskets, and she was on her way a happy customer. So to my knowledge, the Continental has B heads.

Continental is also FWD and the block would not work in a Cobra, so it is not a Conti engine in it. If he is trying to tell you that those are B heads with that intake, he is FOS. Now if you are talking about he took Continental heads off and put them on the Cobra, then that would have worked, but still would be C heads and not from a 97 but a later model.

yeah I think you read it wrong! That is what he means! The guy took the heads off of the conti and put them on the block in the picture!

Definately a C head... you can put the whole C head engine in the car and be good to go tho.

GMAN you have been here long enough to know all this stuff. You really have.

Contis after 2000 have C heads and if he put Conti heads they are 2000 or newer.

Now G, I know you want to have a blown Mark at some point so do it right. Buy a set of C heads and screw the Cobra B head intake. Aint worth the money IMHO. Then get a complete 03/04 Cobra blower setup. You can get C heads for under $500 from Gear Heads in Arlington. The complete blower setup would be under $1500. Yeah install will be more due to cam timing and all that but the result will be better. Nice intercooled positive displacement blower!

Hey Gman, I was watching that aution for a week and wow did it ever go stupid. I know everything was there but I think if we wait or just go with the c head swap we are in a better position for later upgrades.

I have now decided I am going to concentrate on my drive line first and suspension and then go with power upgrades later. Just a change in perspective unless cash or parts drop into my lap.

I had that exact intake. Well a Mach 1 intake. Same :q:q:q:q. Needs C heads for sure. Find an Aviator and do what I did! :)

99 was the first year the conti had c heads there is a 99 conti outside my shop in the loading dock. the rear tire was ripped off it in an accident, 70k on it runs mint the car is super clean. its my buddy's car i keep asking him to part it out so i can have the heads, its a certificate of destruction so its useless now!
