Cobra intake question

Not your typical question though, I need opinions. Should I leave it stock, paint it, or polish it? I cant decide. Most of you have seen my engine already but for those who havent here it is:

So what do ya think? Also, anyone modify their mark intake tube to work with the cobra manifold? I have a couple extra ones I can experiment with but wanted some ideas first.

I would get it powder coated, much easier to maintain.

I painted mine a pewter color. Almost has a green hue. I am not a fan of bright colors at all. I may re-paint it though. Depends on if I re-paint my entire Mark or swap the drive train into Gen II.

But in your case I think the polished look offsets the blue rather well.

There is a company that can "powder coat" it for you. I forget who but there are a member here. I think its called chorming? Not sure about holding up to heat though.

That's what I plan to do with mine. I think it's going to wait until next year though just have to worry about getting the car fixed for now.

I want to get mine done in ceramic by HPC.... helps with heat shielding.

I am so damn excited about this intake! I cant wait til tomorrow. I get to take another road trip in my new mark and pick up a part I have wanted for my old mark for 5 years. I think I have decided to polish it for now and see how it turns out. Theres just something about doing it yourself anhd seeing the results that makes it that much better. I will probably start sanding it as soon as I get home. I'm leaving at 5 AM so I should be home by 5 PM, 6 at the latest. Plenty of time to drink some beer and sand some alluminum.

If it doesnt turn out I will just have it powder coated, like my intake I have now.

i just bought a cobra intake to0 chadly (did't get as good of a deal as you thow lol) an am wonder in the same thing. your current intake looks great is it just polished? and also how do u polish an intake i am a complete n00b when it comes to looks and bodywork lol.

I would powder coat it chrome or black. Your engine bay would look great either way.

As far as making the stock mark viii intake work, i had to cut mine and tape it for like a day until i got my cobra tube, if you want a temporary, then it will work. But as far as long term, they practicly give those stock cobra ones away.

Don't give up! It will look awesome in the end!

I did a BMW I 6 valve cover once, purely by hand - took me several days but once it was finished - no regrets!

Spend enough time on that aluminum and you can make it like a mirror!

My intake has a giant scratch in it.... don't think I can polish it out....
