I sent my wheel out to get repaired and when it gets back it will need to be re-chromed. Anyone know of any places in the NJ area that can do it and what price ranges im looking at?

Yeah I also searched and got them but I am trying to see if anyone here has got chrome done before and had any recommendations to a certain place.

Prepwork is key, the process is exactly that, a process. Quality with respect to the process would be extra steps to increase the flash/glare/depth of the chrome finish. I would recomend using a local shop and take one of your other wheels along with the one being rechromed so they can come up with a good match. You probably dont want to have one show-chrome quality wheel with 3 other triple (standard) chrome wheels. Using a local service would also make it easier to inspect and return if need be.

You could save yourself some money if you did a good prep job on the wheel before-hand. I would guess this would put you in the $100 range. These chrome shops go through alot of EPA and State paperwork and permits just to operate, otherwise chrome services would not be so costly.

Yeah when the wheel comes back it will be down to bare and preped ready to be chromed. Like your saying I dont want to have different looking wheels so I will bring the one and have them try to match it. I just dont want to go a pay money and have the wheel look bad when done. I wouldnt even mind sending it out to a quality company to chrome it but Id rather bring it to someone local for quicker turn around time and to avoid shipping expenses. I was reading on some other forums that the price range for a wheel to be chromed would be $250-300 depending on the work. My brother was telling me like your telling me that if i did the prep work that I will most likely be saving some cash. I figured $100-$125 since I know powdercoating was in that range. If anyone here has had chroming done in NJ, please let me know who you use or recommend.

Well I got an estimate from a place in NJ and I told them that I will have the wheel preped and ready to go and they told me $200 and it will take 4 weeks. I dont mind the wait but the price sucks. I guess chrome is expensive in NJ because of the restrictions and laws. I could send it to california for $115 but it would be almost the same price after shipping.

Is there anyone else that they compete with thats local or localish??

Check out Pauls Chrome in PA

I'm remaking my custom style grill from aluminum and having them chrome it. I was quoted $460 for that one piece

There isn't many competitors because chrome plating in NJ seems to be rare. There are people that do it but not too many which causes them to charge high rates. I would love to buy a new wheel but its impossible to find the 03 chrome cobra wheel in the 5x4.25 bolt pattern and 36mm offset. I just would have thought since its going to be preped and all they would have to do is chrome it that it wouldnt be expensive. I guess if I want this wheel done im going to have to put the money out.

Most places include the prep work in the price, because your average person doesn't know how to prep properly

The shop thats repairing the wheel should have some chrome connections. I would pick their brain a bit.

Yeah Im going to see if they can get someone to do it cheaper. I just got another quote from a place and they told me $285 lol.
