I stumbled across this the other day when looking for performance stuff for a different car. I think it could definately be used on a mark viii. what do you guys think?

They run about $130, and that includes the hardware and filter.

Why bother?

I paid $80 or so for a filter and the proper MAF adapter from summit.

I kept the lower portion of the stock airbox intact and after a drive around town the filter is cool to the touch.

I figure when I do it I am gonna do it right and get this for $45

And this MAF with the filter for $289

Since next pay day I am gonna get a Gold Membership I would bet it would be $300 and offer a nice power gain.

But if you didnt want to spend that much then you can just get the heat shield from LMS and a K&N with the adapter and it should be cheaper then the kit you are showing. :D

on a hot day, try and remove your stock airbox and reach into the little hole at the bottom (Factory Cold Air Kit) and feel how cold it is...if I can remember, on a high 90 degrees day it felt like high 70 degrees in that tube

don't waste your money

The only reason I am gonna get the CAI box is because my lower clamps on my factory box are broken off and missing so the box kinda flaps on rough roads. :(

Or $45 for a nice looking CAI box. I would rather spend a few more bucks to get 1 or 2 more hp plus I like the sound the intakes make when they are more open.

I cant get my CAI to work for crap on my 98 or on my friends first gen. It worked on my 93 ok tho!? Dont waste your money on CAI crap Drill the airbox if you want and throw a drop in k&n in it.

I thought LMS stopped making the ice box

I had mentioned to Geno theother day that I wanted it with some other parts and he never said it was discontinued. Then again he has allot going on right now.

CAI is a waste on a mild Mark. I have a JLT CAI for a 96-98 Cobra waiting for the Cobra intoake to go on. I think with little work many 01 Cobra or Mach1 CAIs would work.

I'll take a pic of my setup. It sounds awesome and I haven't noticed any drivability issues.

using the X2 datalogging I've observed an 8-12 degree higher than ambient in the stock air box.
With an open air K&N filter the temps were much higher.

Point being, while it might have "felt" cooler it probably wasn't.

I agree dont waste your money on a "hot air kit" though.

I have nothing against replacing a poorly designed stock air box.... but the Mark's box has such a fantastic design with great linear flow through the MAF.......
