car is messed up

just a quick question. you did not notice the low idle and black smoke, when you drove it home from the shop. i am sure you had to use the brake, unless of course you ran every stop sign and red light...lmao. that sucks man, i agree it would really be a waste if this work was all for not and it was the brake booster line.

The car ran fine, no problems, about 5 miles from the shop to my house and a little stretch on the interstate where I floored it and no problems. I was taking the old intake out of the trunk and the other parts from the back seat area and then I figured that I'd start it and that is when it ran like sh*t. Put the scanner on it and when I turned on the key the radiator fan came on and wouldn't go off and the scanner said CAR NOT RECOGNIZED. Wiggled the wires and plug that is with the bundle that is connected to the scanner and is just there and the fan shut off. Did the scan and no codes showed up. Too pissed, just going to have it towed Monday back to the shop. The way I'm getting fu*ked they'll find something else wrong so they can charge me.

I sprayed the T.B. and was all gummed up and sitting overnight. This morning started up and the idle went to 2000 R.P.M's. After warming up, the idle would fluctuate high low and then to the stumbling and then stall. A little better after cleaning the T.B. which they should have put mine on the used intake. They should have also put my Idle Air Control Valve on, I think that is the problem now but I'm bringing it back to them so they can put my IACV on. I spent $3000 so they can do it and I'm hoping that that is the problem. Will keep posting until either it's fixed or I have a heart attack.:p

I think he had a new IACV on his old intake manifold and they put on a new intake manifold with a different IACV and his is newer and in better condition.

Yeah, they put a used intake with the T.B. and IAC that came with it so who knows what kind of miles was on the car, mine has 69,000 miles. This morning the tech said that the cooling system sensor is broken and that is the problem and naturally one has to be fabricated so they say because Lincoln doesn't have one. :(

Man, I don't know if you're wasting our time, if you're too lazy to do some research, or if you're taking it up the rear

Fabricate a cooling temp sensor? WTF? Lincoln doesn't sell them? huh?

It took me literally 8 seconds to find you a cooling sensor that you can buy online. Here:

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1188514,parttype,2188

If you're taking it up the rear, I suggest you take your car to a MECHANIC, not someone who can change the spark plugs and calls themselves a real mechanic.

That is what the boss man told me so what he meant by fabricating is find the plug in the junkyard and splice it in, not just the sensor.

Well... I don't know what else to tell you. good luck, I guess. When you get the car up and running, hit me up. I have a bridge I'll make you a good deal on.

I may have an old wiring harness from a 94 lying around. If he can't find the connector at a junk yard, let me know, and I'll see wha ti have.

I still don't understand why the car runs like crap if it's the Water Thermistor that's bad.

If it didn't throw a code for that then I would think that something elso is going on.

Yeah, the check engine light went on and off quite a few times when I returned the car to the shop so I would think that a code or codes would come up but the boss just says to leave Dave alone so he can fix the problem but when I asked if he was sure that is the problem he says probably and leaves it at that. Just because I ask him questions etc. I think he thinks that I'm a pain in the ass for even asking.:(

keep bustin their balls bro. they did not repair the car correctly. you have every right to ask questions.

Picked up the car before they closed and a new cooling system sensor and a spliced in connector installed and was shocked when they wanted more money. They finally didn't charge me the labor but the sensor and connector came to $45.00 so in order to get my car I had to pay it. The connector was probably messed up when they removed or installed the intake. I don't like the way the idle stays a little high before coming down to normal even when warmed up but I see on the idle air control has a black knob on the side of it and I hope this means that I can tone it down a little, anyone know? Thanks for all the info and help and I hope the car is finally fixed.:)

Thanks Frank, looks like the black cap is attached to a shaft and it will turn, looks like I will just replace it because I will not bring it back to the shop so they can fu*k something else up and charge 2-3 hundred bucks.

I don't understand how a shop could charge you $3000 and when your car still isn't running you bring it back and they charge you more???

When I called the shop to tell them all the things they fu*ked up like braking one of the screw down tabs on the airbox, denting and scratching the chrome strip I put on under the hood ontop of the radiator that said "Mark Vlll" not transferring the IAC valve and TB from my old intake onto the one they got from a yunkyard so that is why the idle is all screwed up now, the bossman just told me to bring it back and they will install the IAC. I told him that I didn't have another 2-3 hundred dollars to give him so he thought I was a wise ass but said that they would install it for nothing. I don't want them braking anything else so I will install it myself. But as for the stuff they screwed up all he said was how do you know that we did it and end of story. Before this happened my car's front end was tight as hell, now with the few times it was towed, clunking noises now when you hit even a small bump, will have to put it on ramps to see what the damage is. This sure was a costly experience that I hope never happens again!!!
