Perhaps I'm way late, but there may be a few people who did not see this article in Car and Driver. It was the concept car for the new Mark.

Doesn't have enough buttons and toys inside. And the windshield line is all wacky.

It's waaaaay better looking in person. I took pics of it at the 2008 auto show. That thing and the Ford Interceptor were awesome. To tell you the truth Ford's vehicles were the most impressive out of all the ones there.

Ecoboost V-6 and estimated 50K price tag.

Here is a cool video showing it off:

And would you like to see the production version?

You sure?

Cause they made it but with some small changes.

I agree. Its funny cause you can see every bit of that concept in the production car. Its just too much to make all those complicated shapes and keep the price low enogh for people to buy them. I really like the MKS though. AWD, TT V-6, 6-speed. Its a sweet ass car and has a warrenty.

It's nice...it just doesn't compare to the concept. I've seen both in person and let me tell you that concept in person was AMAZING! It was such a futuristic design. It's sad they settled for conservative styling instead. Although I think you're right some of the watering down was due to cost, I think more was to cater to the taste of an older crowd not so interested in sleek, modern looks.

The MKR is REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE, as a Lincoln should be. The MKS is a FWD (with optional AWD - which is still FWD because the rears only engage when the fronts lose traction) imitation Lincoln. I have no use for anything FWD. Especially a Lincoln. That's why I love my Marks so much. They are truely "what a luxury car should be". Lincoln has moved decidedly down market since the demise of the PAG. Lincolns are now nothing more than re-badged Fords. The MKZ is nothing more than a Fusion, which in turn is a slightly modified Mazda 6. The MKS is a Taurus, which in turn is a modified Volvo. The Town car is thankfully still REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE, but it's an obsolete dinosaur compared to its competition. The MKX is nothing but a Ford Edge with a '63 Continental grille (LONG LIVE THE AVIATOR!!!!). And the Navigator, as gorgeous as it is, it just a plain ol' Expedition with the Lincoln treatment. Lincoln is in desperate need of a flagship car, preferably a RWD one. The MKS is not flagship material. What Lincoln needs is its own version of the Australian Ford Falcon. I could definitely see a nice, RWD, 422hp 5.4L DOHC Lincoln in my future. But Ford will never do it. They'll keep trying to pass these FWD pieces of junk off as Lincolns until Lincoln dies just like Mercury is about to at the end of this year. Just because they're to damn stubborn to study market trends. Okay. I'm all depressed now. I feel sorry for Lincoln. It is a pale shadow of its former self.
