because when he called them the first time he probably described the damage as only on the back of the car, now many days later there is damage on the front of the car, i doubt they would believe him if he told them that he just missed the damage on the front because he was so focused on the back, they usually ask you specifically if there is any other damage or is that all. two different accidents, two different days, two different claims, two different deductibles.

The way I understood it, he's making a comprehensive claim... One of the reasons we carry full coverage is so that if something happens like, falling tree, uninsured motorist, oops I hit a wall.. we know our car is covered and will be repaired. Cancel your first claim? Make a comprehensive claim for both the front and rear. Unless you paid already, then.. I dunno

Maybe I don't correctly understand insurance.

Since they're hit-n-runs, they're Uninsured Motorist claims, which hopefully won't raise my rates (not my fault!). Also my uninsured/underinsured deductible is less than my comprehensive deductible. I had filed a claim for the rear damage a day before the front stuff happened, so they're won't combine or forget about the first one. (separate incidents on separate days...)

For future reference, here are roughly the repair estimates from the adjuster:
rear bumper $330
rear quarter panel $310
front bumper $380
fender $420 The shop claims they can hammer it back into shape :shifty:
drivers door $240
