brake bleeding

I need the correct procedure to bleeding my brakes like which harbor freight tool to get.My fluid is dirty as hell and black.I know the order RR,FL,RL,and FR just want to know how exactly is it done.Do i just drain out all the fluid first.My pedal has to hit the floor to stop and i just installed some new thermo quiet brakes.

If your doing this yourself then buy the cheap bleeder bottle. It has a clear tube attached to the cup. You open the bleeder on the caliper with the clear tube attached. Then go pump the brake pedal slowly a couple times. Check the fluid level in the master cylinder and fill as needed. Repeat until clear fluid comes out. Do this for all corners. Never let the master cylinder go empty!!!!!!!!. Also empty the small catch cup as needed. Always close the bleeder before you remove the tube. The bleeder cup is to prevent air from entering the brake system.

I suggest taking it a dealer. You need a dealer tool, Anti Lock Test Adapter T90P-50-ALA, to bleed the ABS pump. If you just bleed the lines the HCU will still contain old fluid and will contaminate the new fluid.

Dealer here in MO is $65, if they can find the the adapter .

What about if you used one of those little tools they have that fills the brake fluid up by the bleeders? Its just a small plastic hand pump with a hose and a storage tank, cant be too much.
This one is $100 and is still cheaper then having the dealer do it and you will have a cool tool all your friends will want to borrow. :lol: http://www.speedibleed.com/

Autozone has a small pump system that sucks it out of the bleeders for $30. It seems to me that any setup that would force the fluid to travel through the system instead of gravity bleeding would force the air out of the ABS system, no?

I personally would not want to force fluid through the HCU. To many valves/seals to chance f-ing-up. Their are no rebuild kits for them, so it would be off the the bone yard and a roll of the dice. Just my opinion, I'll pay the stealership.

Call some dealers in the morning and price it done and go form there.

The way I've always bled my gen 1 brakes is by the conventional method and activation of the ABS pump via the traction control.

But we are only talking 10-20psi, nowhere near the force the brake system makes when its opperating. Its just enough to push the air out. If the force of your foot and the leverage of the pedal coupled with the booster does not blow a seal out then this little low pressure plastic hand pump wouldnt have a chance.

Maybe I misunderstood. I thought he wanted to flush the system, not just bleed air.
