Bought my dream Mark VIII!

Ok, I took my moonroof out with the four screws. Tried to run the track to see what was happening and now its worse than before! One side won't move forward, the other wont move back. I guess I need a track. Somebody on here offered one but I can't recall who it was. Anybody know of one available?

Well I found the entire moonroof assembly (glass, tracks, motor) for $50 at a U-Pull-it. I'm gonna head out there in the am to do the removal. I'm kinda glad its a U-pull-it deal cuz it should give me a little practice before I tear into mine.

On another note, don't ever buy a car in the rain! Now that the car is dry and in the sun, I noticed several dings that were invisible when the car was wet and dirty. Not a deal-breaker or anything, and I'm not upset, but if you really want to see a car's body, don't look at it in the rain.

A PROUD NEW FATHER!!!!! She is beautiful!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Now smack some 5% tint on those windows and join the black on black on black club!!!

Smooches

MsM8tress:
As we would say in Texas - I "preciate that, darlin'. Comin' from you, that means somethin"!
sad thing is due to the burned out headlight, broke moonroof, and clunky front suspension I ain't had her out the barn since I bought her.

all in good time...

Pulled this out of a '97 Tbird today. I pulled two roof's before this one from '97 Mark VIII's, but they both had damage. I didn't think I'd find a good one until I stumbled upon this Tbird. The roofs are different from Gen I to Gen II. You must use the roof from your generation's Mark or Tbird.

It was great practice for doing my car, and not bad at all for $50.

I'll install it tomorrow if if checks out.

NOTICE HOW CLEAN THE MOTOR IS...

Would anyone be interested in a pictorial of how to drop your Gen II headliner and change the moonroof / sunroof ? I'd start a new thread for it.

Engine cleaned up nice:

The red wire goes to the sub in the trunk. I need to reroute it.

Just piant that crossover tube and you will be set.

I seen a Gen 2 Black on back just like this, in a little better shape though, at a buy here pay here a while back... I hate those places with a passion, but I'm kicking myself for not picking it up. Some of those places around here actually drill the license plate to the trunk/bumper of their cars rather than putting it where the license plate goes! Seeing that just makes me cringe.

Seeing you clean this one up really makes me want to go find one now! :)

I cleaned the engine at the self serve car wash. I started with tire//wheel cleaner (the green stuff) all over the engine compartment to degrease it, then followed up with a full scrub down with the foaming brush to get off any dirt, then high pressure rinse (carefully applied), and clearcoat sealer for a little shine after.

I have done this on multiple cars. Just make sure to have the ignition electronics covered and you are good to go.
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: wow - Ive never tried it and heard so many horror stories...I'd still be afraid to do it - but sure does look nice Hottie!

YES!!! would make a good edition to the the tech article section !!!

Smooches Hotties!

Biggest worry I have had, is when it is a high mileage car and hasn't had the engined cleaned in a long time. Gets to the point where the grease is holding it together.

sure beets the countless hours I've spent with q-tips, various brushes and cleaners...but I'd just kick myself if I did it and then he wouldn't start!!!!

That would be awesome. I've been putting off doing this job for a couple of years now.

Moonroof Replacement pictorial is here: http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?p=601945#post601945

Moonroof is now installed and working nicely! Job took about 2 hrs from start to finish, working alone.

Regarding spraying engines it's cost me at least two coil packs on other cars, but I figure they were either weak or I'd be replacing them soon anyhow. Overall I've done hundreds of engines. I used to work for a Cadillac dealer when I was a kid and I'd make e'm shine like new with a steam cleaner. They always look so much better after you're finished anyhow

Now moving on to
...rebuilding/repairing the front end
...installing 7" gps nav dvd player with back up camera
...12" sub
...HID headlights
...J-mod
...???
...X-cal tune
