At least I think so. Found a 93 with a born on date of 2/93. Pulled the PCM and found a W3Z2. May go to the strip tomorrow and see if I can tell any differences between it and the W3Z3 thats in the junkyard dog.

Also got a nice condition Opal Grey console lid. Rest of interior was trashed. 218k car that looked rode hard and put away wet.

Driveshaft!

Yes, you should have got the driveshaft. As for the PCM, there isn't a whole lot of difference between the W3Z2 and W3Z3, except at the track. Shift points are a little different.

W3Z2 Rev limit 6850

W3Z2 1-2 shift 5600

W3Z2 speed limit (driveshaft revs) 16372= no speed limiter
W3Z3 speed limit (driveshaft revs) 5400 = max speed limited!

Shift pressure on the W3Z2 PCM is about 15 PSI higher as well, for a more solid, quick shift.

There are some of the differences between the two.

There is a lot of difference calibration-wise between W3Z2 and Z4H0 which is in the 94 models.
The rev limit is about 800 RPM's higher
There is about 8-10 degree's more WOT spark.

Shift points are pretty much the same.

Where is the PCM at on these cars? I would be interested in finding out what is in mine.

so quick question i just took the pcm out of my car for the sct chip install, when you put the chip in and have the programs put in does it even matter what pcm you have???? also how do you guys go about cleaning the bottom part of the pcm for the chip install???

take the housing apart and clean till you see the copper of the contacts or it'll give you problems.

Driveshaft!

Good call Kid! I need to go back and get the coil kit off the rear anyway.

Thanks for the info. Had to work today, OT baby, so no track test. But I did make enough to get the 4.10 tral-loc pumpkin from Thomas! Hell yeah!

Ok so I found the code and mine is not either one of the two that are being talked about. Mine is a X3L2. Where does that lie in the picture?

you suck!!:D

Swaped the PCM in. Can tell a difference in 1-2 shift with the added line pressure. Alot smoother, quicker, and doesn't drag on. Shifts will be real nice once I JMOD it!

Can't wait to get the 4.10s in it and do the exhaust! I know I won't gain anything with exhaust but should sound good with the x pipe and mufflers i got.

so how do you clean the bottom of the part of the chip, i had one suggestion of cleaning it with a razor blade

So if I find one I could pull the chip out of it and put it in mine? Or do I need to take the whole PCM?

How come people with OBDII cars don't mimic the same specs as in the W3Z2 pcm with a handheld tuner. In other words why don't they use those specs as a canned tune for all Mark VIII's with programmers?

So where does a X3L2 fall in to this mix?
