So I'm finally thinking upgrading to HID's for my LS. I'm kind of in a toss up between 5000k and 6000k. Which one is the best for night/rainy driving? Which color temp's to you run?

Honestly 6000K looks the best IMO, and is still feasible for light output.

Sure nasty yellow colors will technically give you more light, but unless you are offroading and weaving around deer on a nightly basis - go with pure white.

Thanks. Did you do the halo mod on your head lights? (Pic is too small to see lol)

Only thing different from this is I no longer promote or own the VLED LED fogs.

I have a VLED HID Kit that is also 6000K in the fogs.

The best lights to run for night/rainy driving as mentioned will be the yellow ones 3-4300k (oem). Unfortunately these are not krispy and look like poo.

A lot of people run them in the 5-6000k range. Personally, I'm running 6000k in my lo-beams, hi-beams, and fog lights. I recently completed my angel eyes as well and it's a close match but not perfect. You can match the color temp all you want but the way it is reflected/projected will change the look too.

For example my hi and lo-beams although the same color temp, do not look the same. One of the reflectors was designed for HID, lo-beam, where the other was not, hi-beam. The same goes for the fogs. Installing a/m isn't advised but a ton of people do it. A lot of people will adjust how there headlights are aimed to adjust the glare, but it's still going to be there.

Probably more than anyone cares to read but wth.

I personally think oem 4300k to 6000k looks the best. I have oem 4300k in right now and its a nice white color. I put 6000k in for a while and it was a little to blue for my taste. Don't go over 6000k unless you want to scream rice.

Hmmm... I'll be using the 6000k. I don't want to use anything that'll get me a ticket. Last thing I need in NY lol. Any other input will be greatly appreciated.

Technically, at least from what I've read, modifying your headlights would be ticketable. Haven't heard of someone getting a ticket for it though.

5000 for me (DDM) however, i often wish i would have gone with 4300. not that 5000 is "too blue" but you can tell its not stock (OEM = quality)

I went from oem 4300 to osram 5000k and I couldn't notice any decrease in light output. And I just think the white looks more modern over the yellowish oem and the 6000k hyper blueish color.

I got a pair of the OEM lamps if you do decide to go back

Here's the best shot I got with the difference between 6000k HID (Left) vs. halogen (Right) in my fog lights. Observe the glare created by the fog lamp with the HID.

Then here's the best shot I got of the difference between the 6000k HID (Left) vs. 4300k (OEM - Right).
