Ok, all you JModders and Bauman users, I have been considering of upgrading my Tranny on my 93. i've read posts on the JMods and also read some on the Bauman Kits.

IM undecided which way to go.
i plan on doing some mild street racing, (KK look out),,,,:cool: and some light towing of my small fishing boat. my transmission works great as it is and i do get 2nd gear rubber now sometimes, but i want a little quicker shifts and longevity. i plan on getting a new deeper pan and new filter and gasket. fluid will be replaced with Fresh Mercon V.

I would like some opinions of which one is better for my needs. which is more reliable, performs better (adjustability)and breaks down the least. Thanks for the input!
 
Green Machine if you want to add some additional life to your tranny then also install a tranny cooler while you are at it.
 
A little background, both men worked on the design of the transmission and pretty much know what they are doing.
The J mod is inexpensive and fairly easy, the Bauman kit is a little more in depth and a lot more expensive.
I run a buaman stage 4 kit and 3500 stall works perfectly, my previous Mark I had just done the J mod.
 
I'm running the Baumann kit as well and have liked it so far. I put it in with new accumulators and springs. I did have a question about a couple other valves I got in addition to the kit, and they were great in helping me with them.
 
at WOT, shifting manually or automatically, i realize it will shift very fast and crisp. but under normal, part throttle accelleration, does the bauman kit allow for normal smooth up shifting?
 
I have a baumann kit in my 98 set at stage 5. The shifting firmness is very progressive. At light throttle, it's just firm, but at WOT, it's awesome. haha.
 
i am running a bauman shift kit with the updated accum and springs and it has great street manors but you can get a little rubber in second if you want! now i am just waiting for my denny's 4 inch shaft and in go the gears:)
 
About the same at WOT.... his car spins the tires way easier... but it was wet out today....

You both need jmods imo... or a tune, or better yet a tune and a jmod.
 
I went a bit milder on the Baumann settings than the others, but mine shifts pretty hard too at wot (I can get rubber sometimes going into 2nd even with the 20's on it ;) ) Even at med throttle it's a lil bit hard (for my liking at least.)
I'd advise not going right to a 5 setting on the Baumann kit, but start lower and you can always increase it, but not decrease. (Well, you can in some cases, but in mine I couldn't go any lighter than what I did.) Spinning the tires doesn't equal better performance, just slower times and buying tires quicker :D

Better yet a tune,jmod, gears, ext. and a converter. :cool:

I would pop a boner for a new oil pan. :D
