Is on at idle and goes off about 1800-2000 I know I have alternator problem.... but no check charging system and voltage says ok on the system monitor...... could it be a bad connection or something or the alternator taking a crap

If you wait until the message center tells you to check the charging system, be sure to have parts handy! LOL :D

Damn thats wut I thought... it sux I had gotten trans fluid a drain pan and everything to do the j-mod spent 100 bucks on everything.... and i get off the freeway to go to work and the light goes on damn it lol.... well j-mod is goin to have to wait..... gotta take that stuff back and fork up an other 50 for the alternator....

What do people think about autozone stuff I love the life time warrenty on the alternator

Ha ha well its that or spend money else where if the limited warranty runs out or whatever I don't mind the work its the money I hate spending

Autozone alts have the ability to last but they cant charge for crap at idle. Maybe 35 amps at idle.

Don't have a system or anything and not goin to get one if anything 500 Watts at Max rms wise.... I have had to do a warranty swap on my bird once in 4 yrs that was do to a stupidly loud stereo without a cap

My car at idle does not charge if the AC and lights are on. If I idle for too long I get check traction and check chargin errors when I start off. I have a 6 month old AZ alt. I also have an underdrive crank. Just tellin ya, the autozone sucks. Finding a REAL Motorcraft alt seems to be hard to find now though so......... meh.

I just picked up a new one for $107 shipped on Ebay. Has a one year warranty, so if it craps out I will be alright.

Yeah just for that one yr then u gotta fork up the 107 again after that I'd rather spend the 150 once and get free ones the rest of the cars life if it craps out and plus if my friends get a mark we can get a free alt if theirs go out lol

I would rather buy one re manufactured by a reputable rebuilder who actually replaces everything than from Autozone where they replace the defective part only and you have to replace them over and over again because the rest is not replaced. After having to replace 6 in one month with my old RX7 from Autozone, I learned to do it differently. Since mine is not a daily driver it should last for years. And here they cost $179 plus core and tax, so over $200. I would rather have a good used one than a re manufactured one from Autozone.

I have an alternator purchased from Autozone, and I've had no problems with it. All the alternators now are reman alternators now. If your Mark is motor is just stock, I don't see you running into any problems. The next time you go there ask for an alternator for a 99 cobra. See if there is a difference.

The one I bought is from DB Electrical, they have generally very good reviews on the net.

Kool thanks and yeah they replace the whole unit reman but I've had no probs and its stock it will eventually get little things ported throttle body air filter pulley crank nothing to hurt the alt ill look into that 99 cobra one
