Was driving along yesterday and while on the highway I hear a loud "POP-POP" sound. ( I was not following anyone)

This morning on my way to work I literally see this crack growing along the bottom of the window at the rate of about an inch a minute from the passenger side. The crack is now about 3 inches away from the driver side.

So, In the last 8 months while "trying" to fix this car up. I get hail damage, missing lower grille piece and a cracked windshield.

Oh well, part of the fun of a daily driver I suppose.

Wonder how much $$$$$$ this will be.

It's funny, I had a rock fly up from a big truck on the interstate at the beginning of winter and it left a 3 inch crack on my driver's side and as soon as it got really cold I watched it grow from 3 inches to pretty much the entire length of my windshield. I will have to get a pic up tomorrow. I will be replacing the windshield when it gets warmer out. I don't want to get another crack before winter is over so it will wait for spring :(.

+1 on insurance, talk to them and see if they will cover it for free or what their cost is, then get some quotes on shops to see which will benefit you

It will be on file as a non-fault claim, so your rates might increase later on.

But heck, what's the point of insurance otherwise.

I have glass coverage, but when safelite replaced mine at the insurance company's expense it was over $600 lol... I'm sure that it was that much just because the insurance was paying.

That sucks. I just had my windshield on my work truck replaced yesterday. Got a rock. It cracked 15 inches by the time I got home.

BTW I can tell you how to get it fixed for FREE. If interested, PM me. This isn't a joke. I am NOT going to post it publicly.

Agreed.. Most give a break when you are paying because they get the money ASAP

Chit yeah its cheap. My truck windshield was $41. Made in China.

Just make sure you get OEM glass. The glass most windshield replacement companies try to push on you is the cheap Chinese crap that pits and cracks easily.

Yeah, for sure!

I know we have that de-icer heat strip on the bottom of the glass and I want that for sure. From what I understand you can get the glass with out that.

Just had mine replaced about a month ago. My regular deductible is 500 but my insurance company has a separate policy for glass only. I paid 200 and the company came to my work and replaced the windshield in the parking lot. I didn't even have to deal with them. Went into work with a cracked windshield and came back out with a new one. They did a pretty good job too.

My Comprehensive includes glass, so a WS is a no-cost fix. Since '02, when I bought the car new, I've had to replace the WS twice. The second time, the guy at the glass place told me he was going to charge extra next time because it took him longer to work around the roll cage.
