If it was an option for it how many people would have gotten it just an option not standard u got rwd and awd choices

Probably none of considering about 1% of the members bought their mark viii new. Look at it this way, I was in like 5th grade when my car was new.

With that being said, I still would have bought the rwd version. That's one of the reasons I was drawn to the car.

I was 28 in 93 when I saw the first Mark VIII commercial. Needless to say, it was a pipe dream for me, raising two kids. With that said, I wouldn't care for AWD.

When mine came out in 93 there was no way I could of afforded one new, I was only 19. But if I could I would have went with the RWD if it was an option.

I was cleaning the showroom floor in 93 when they first came out and drooled over them all the time. I remember a couple of the salesmen coming up to me and saying "maybe one day you will be able to afford one" and then chuckling as they walked away! A year and a half later, I drove "my mark viii" not my parents car, right up to the front fvcking door of the showroom! Ha ha...bastards:D Oh yeah, the point of this thread was either rwd or awd...I probably would have just got rwd like I did;)

I'm just saying it as if it was actually in production for awd and regardless if it was brand new and u back in the day no if they made them would u get it awd or rwd regardless new or now

I was 13 when I first saw the neon ballast of a 2nd gen mark at night, from there on it was a search to find the car in daylight. And to one day own one. I had all but forgotten about them until I saw chickens car on this site I came across when I was 15 and set out again to own one. I liked it for it's looks,I didn't care if it was rear wheel,or front wheel drive,I just wanted one.

So would I have wanted a awd? Sure,if that's all they came with.

No, for any number of reasons.
One being, I wouldn't want Ford's first generation AWD that would have been designed during the 80s.

These cars are nose heavy enough. Wouldn't wanna add another 250+ lbs for transfer case and axles. Plus that would make the motor higher which would also hurt handling. So no, do not want.

An AWD Mark VIII would be intersting. When the new Taurus SHO and MKS came earlier this year I thought about it.Now to do it with the 4.6 that would one thing but maybe getting the whole set up from the SHO or MKS that would make it interesting.Sure it would be a hell of alot of work but it would be different putting the 3.6 TT in the Mark VIII.

That being said,I sure love the feel of a RWD car.

There`s barely room for what is already stuffed in there. So why would more junk(stuff to break, become obsolete) be a good idea. Of course had they did it,....everyone of them would be in the junkyard by now.

Also if they did make them AWD there would be some major differences from what they look like and what we love them for now.Just think if they were AWD from the start this conversation would be "What if the Mark VIII was RWD?"

Yep, they made ONE afaik, and the SCCOA owns it.

I sure wouldn't want AWD, more stuff to replace when it brakes, more stuff to upgrade when modding.

I did some reading and I read that there were 4 made. Where the other 3 are....who knows:confused:

Well I was in my 30's when the Mark VIII came out ... Looked at it and said ... Hmmm ... can't afford it plus at the time I was recovering from a very expensive Divorce then 10 years of going back to court .... no way could I afford it...

Good thing the price came down in 2004... LOL ... AWD ... why? I didn't want a Jeep.

I think it would be funny now that i think of it, they would have probably made it awd and a wagon, throw a hatch on it and call it a gt
