for those of you who monitor it, what is the average operating temperature? and with what mods, if any

195 degree F. allows the fluid to be run for up to 50,000 miles before servicing is required
212 degree F. causes the fluid life to be cut in half to 25,000 miles
235 degree F. causes the fluid life to be cut in half again to 12,000 miles
255 degree F. causes the fluid life to be cut in half again to 6,250 miles

When I ran the small cooler with the stock radiator tank in series, the trans fluid temp was generally 10-15 degrees below the coolant temperature driving normal. That generally put it in the 185-195 range with 4.10s.

With 3.55 gears and a 3800 TC., Small cooler and deep pan.... 150 on the highway, 180 street and 200 on the track.

It depends on ambient temps, but I usually see 150-170* trans fluid temps. That's with a 10" lockup TC (~3500 stall), 4.10's, a B&M 28K cooler in a standalone configuration, and -8AN cooler lines. Ambient temps below 50* require blocking off a portion of the cooler in order to get the trans fluid up to temp.
