Super hairy monkey balls man I got the alternator last friday put it on goin great.... then tonight nail it to get on the freeway bam battery light completely stays on..... I had a 23 mile drive to get home I made it....... took it of spun the pulley it was making metal on metal noises...... so take it back exchange it put new one back on and no light now..... but gotta love lifetime warrenty for 10 min of labor.....

Get a FORD rebuilt or new. ONLY. Period. No Exceptions. Its hit or miss, mostly miss, with anything else. Why? No clue, just is.

I have had a lot of problems with Ford alternators and some of the ones I replaced came with a new electrical connector due to problems recognized by the supplier...

AutoZone is like Wal-Mart, their business plan is to keep you coming in their store to shop. Lifetime warranty does not cover my time or inconvenience to replace the part every time it goes bad... I get most of my stuff from Napa, Big A, CarQuest and other suppliers who service professional repair shops.

Discount auto parts chains take the cheapest parts they can get hoping it will pass their warranty or the customer sells their car, whichever comes first.

Got mine from DB Electrical on Ebay, paid $107 shipped. So far it is working great and they have a good rep.

Yeah when I got my Gen1 it had a replacement alt on it already. That was around 150k that it gave out. Autozone new one on the car and I think around 15k later it seized up on my car

Yeah new replacement but it pissed me off how long it took for it to fail and fail in a pull over and stop deal. If I drove it home you know I woulda lost the belt

I've got a AZ alt on mine, it's working better than the Cobra Alt I had...I got it free...so whatever, I just used my Cobra Alt as a core, and a receipt from someone else that bought a Mark Alt ...lol...

Here's a lil suggestion for you guys who like to save money...
Team up with someone else, and share receipts..if one person has a receipt for an alt, then borrow it and swap yours out... I've done it with lots of parts...that way one person isn't buying all the parts
I've loaned receipts for sway bar link/control arms/batteries/starters/ect ect
we all have the same type of car...maybe we can do a club wide type of trading network...all it takes is a copy machine or fax, maybe save a few people some cash

Since my Alt left with my Gen1, if the Gen2 Alt fails better believe it's getting replaced under warranty:D

LoL, when my Cobra alt went bad, I just used Lasers receipt for his alt from AZ, no problem, then he used my receipts for swaybar links for his car...it's a great trade off

and you can save hundreds on your car insurance...by not having any

Yuppers, sharing is caring. :D

Anywho, I hate Autozone with a passion. I also have an Autozone alt and its worked ok for the last 6 months. Its a bit weak at idle though but I do have an underdriven crank pulley.

I need to remember to swap my Batt out soon since it seems like it's not taking a full charge

Sorry, the one I bought yesterday says Motorcraft on it.

And while I was against it at first, they sell crap parts, the parts fail prematurley, you are out the labor cost, they dont care. So they lost some money on a part, makes up for the retard behind the counter that insisted the oil filter for a 89 Accord is the same one in my Mark VIII.

You all gotta watch out cause 94m5 is a AZ store manager or something? Word gets out all Mark VIII warranty could come under suspect from now on :shifty:

For items under warranty at Autozone, all it takes is the phone number the warranty is registered under. Know someone with the same car as you? Take their number to a store, look through the warranty file...

There are plenty of ways to take advantage of Autozone's warranty system, up to and including getting a free warranty for any part you want. Course I can't share all my secrets on a public forum...

if its a autozone alt it has been mentioned before wot will kill them. so buy 2 and keep one in the trunk
