Anyone got a lowered coil conversion that they are not using & would sell for a decent price.

Just checking before I decide to go with a new lowered coil set up or just buy new front air struts, and of course I am trying to save as much money as possible!

Thanks guys.

Stay with the air!

It's a Lincoln, not a Thunderbird.

Yeah, I know. Believe me! I have given people a lot of crap for switching to the coils in the past.

I like the air & would like to stay with it. I don't feel like spending $350 bucks for 2 aftermarket air struts & having them last for only 3 years again!

I currently have a pair of 3 year old arnotts up front, No cracks or weathering, but one of them has a small hole near the fold. I tried some green slime with no luck. It won't back up into the system because gravity will keep the slime near the bottom + it vents very slowly. Even though it's near the fold I am going to get a tube patch in a few minutes & try to patch it. It just sucks that the bags are great except for this little hole!!!

$350 for 2 air struts from Eddie OR the lowered conversion from Eddie for a buck or so more (front & back)

We will see if the patch will hold.

I know of someone with one for sale its on his car tho, hes parting it out tho only has like 20 miles on the kit but the car has sat for 2 years

do the lowered coils, screw the air, i dont know why everyone praises the air ride so much, one ride in a mark VIII with a lowered coil kit would convince alot of you die hard air riders to switch trust me. its your car rich, do what you want to it. i stand behind you if you switch to springs.

People complain that coils lowers the already low resale value of Marks, I could care less. I would value a mark with lowered coils a little better because its one less thing I'd have to worry about. If I had the money I'd spend the cash to replace all of the air ride components, but I won't so I can just dream of that

there is no resale value on these cars anymore anyway so who the hell cares whats under it for suspension as long as it works right.

well when you are talking 10 to 15 year old cars chances are most of the comfort is already gone, unless you replace everysingle front end part in the car and new rear shocks. a mark VIII with all new suspension parts and a coil conversion rides just as nice as a mark with air ride still. i have been working on these things for a very long time and i have driven marks from all walks of life and a mark with everything replaced and a brand new coil kit, you cannot tell the car has springs without looking. most people who complain about the coils and how they ride are the ones who have a mark VIII that needs everything replaced in the front but only put in the coils, then they say it rides like crap. you wouldnt replace 4 pistons in a v-8 if you were rebuilding it would you, everything has to be done in one shot to get the " comfort " back in the car.

Well I got it patched for now. We will see if it holds. Reguardless I am going to pick up Eddies lowered coil kit when I have the extra money & be done with it once & for all. I will just leave all of the air ride parts intact just in case I change my mind one day.

I got the coil conversion on my 93. It rides just as good as it did with air ride. I just wish I got the 1.5 lower kit instead of the standard height.

If you want to keep your air susp, a member has been kind enough to give me a book on the Gen1 so my pay it forward is if I can find the air struts you can have them, I know they had less then 3 months of use on them and the shock is great shape.

So I will look for them this weekend.

new complete Strutmaster coil over conversion

Hi Mymarkgone here. I just posted a complete changeover kit (Strutmaster ) new in the boxes. My Mark VIII got totaled by (a red light runner). I put a $250 price on the kit (with installation instructions).
I had this setup on my previous (94 Mark LSC) and it rode and handled better then the Air ride (I sold the 94 and got my 1998 collector; "that just bit the dust") Never got to install this stuff.
If you want the kit you pay shipping and I will throw in a Super Chip for your ECM, I took it out of my Mark before the insurance Co. totaled it. The chip is set up for quicker/ positive shifts, increase of HP(315 on my car) no rev limiter. I never missed the airsuspension, the kit lowers the Mark 1 to 1 1/2 inches , I found the age of the suspension Bushings has a bearing on how much it lowers.
Your call, the kit cost me $515 new plus shipping by UPS.

So so so so so many things wrong here. There is not a coil conversion out that rides better then air. Sure better handling is possible but better ride? No fuggin way. I have played with and installed just about every setup available with the exception of Konis with Voglands and there is no way a setup that firm can even ride bettr.

As for the chip, 315 is BS. Not even with a balls on custom tune will the car pick up 35 HP with only computer changes.
And no rev limiter? So you like valve float, spring binding and chipping pistons?

94 LSC huh. Yeah, no such thing.

Suspension bushings age (controll arms) have no bearing on coil conversion height. Improperly installing front UCAs will.
