looking into headlights since i broke my pass side. according to ford there are 2 kinds halogen and hid just the housings.i have the hid's which i thought all 98 lsc came with the price is more than twice as much just for the housing. can the halogens be used with the hid like a conversion since i have all the pieces, just the lens is cracked, actually its the one i replaced last year. i dont need new, but nobody at the dealer ha any answers and of course have to be ordered so pay first before i can see. anyone have info or pictures of the difference?

theres the parts

All 98 came stock with the hids when the bulbs were discontinued they started making the halogen lenses . So if you got the halogen lenses you would need an HId kit just like based model gen ones.
You cannot use your stock hids with the new halogen lenses.

do the housings look the same? the low beam on the hid has the little reverse reflective mushroom inside, do the halogens look identical,i can always put a conversion kit on the halogen assembly,i cant understand the $$ difference in the casings.its actually cheaper to buy the halogen housings then put conversion kit on for $60.someone just did a custom led headlight thread and i cant find it. anyone remember. he had a strip of white leds around the edge of housing.

so if you already have hid's in car, switch to halogen lens at which point do you mount the ballast,? eliminate the stock, or install after, allthe kits are made to plug into existing wire plugs.

im looking intothem, but when i go to paint this summer, im going new and want to know the difference.

If I was in your position the last thing i'd do is get my car painted. Start a savings account for future engines, transmissions and Insurance deductibles.

lol, yep its been a baaaaaaaaaad year.now ive got a perfect mechanical base, i get in a washout in the rain.my car is the opposite of christine. everytime i fix something she breaks something else. i feel a turnaround coming.
i have a trust setup if you care to contribute! donations are always welcome.
someone had a " how much have you spent ... thread before, im $4g higher in last 3 months, but she moves now. new gears will really make a diff now.but i cant stand looking at door dings let alone the dent now, so paint it is next.

Halogen housings on a Gen2?

I had a 93 that would break 3 or 4 things everytime I fixed something else on it... That car was possessed

yeah. ford made them after the 9500 bulbs were discontinued so 2nd gens could have headlights.

but have you seen the housings? i suppose in the long run it doesnt matter if theyre different, but the hid's that came stock have the reverse reflection. the new kits are direct direction.i just cant imagine a double price difference for the only difference being the mounting of the hid box on the back.

The halogen housings have the little reflector inside, also.

They use a 9005 bulb, and it installs by pushing in and turning 60 degrees or so. Then you put the clear plastic "bowl" on the back. I took a couple pics, but won't be able to get them on here until later.
