02 LSE? Doesnt look that bad to me. A couple of used doors and some pull time on the B pillar and youd be back on the road. I bet the insurance company fixes it.

the unibody cars are hella expensive once it's bent the crash structure. if it is a 2002, V8 in excellent condition - it's only worth $6,500... so any repair nearing $5,000 would be bye-bye...

doors, and door mechanicals, b-pillar, floor pans, straightening, trim and paint

paint alone is $1500....

glad everyone's ok - the car did it's job.

waiting for the appraiser to come out tomorrow, if she is totaled I will probably go the cheaper route and get something gas friendly... :slam its going to be a sad day, but my bank account will be a lot happier

oh and btw, the rims are from the 02 lse, I have the 03 lsv8, still bye bye i think...

Totaled?

I was hit by a nitwit little High School girl and the car actually looked a little worse than that. FWIW, I was told that my car---'02 Sport---would be totaled if I notified the insurance, and I'd never recover the cost of my roll cage even if I took all the other stuff off.

The damage was not only the doors, but the 'B' pillar and the front of the back wheel-house structure.

I found a whole set of four doors for $100, and took most of an afternoon to pull the 'B' pillar back into place and straighten the wheel house enough to be able to hang the doors. The damage was all above the rocker, so other than the door color, and the necessity for some more cosmetic work on the wheel house, I'm OK.

Total cost so far is the $100 for the doors, and about $150 for paint materials. And I've sold enough stuff off the extra two doors to be about even with the board. I do have about 8 or 10 hours work in it also. Good Luck!!!

shoulda let them total it, then buy back.. Lots o'Money in ur pocket and you still have a working car after all the work you put in...Salvage title but id rather have 5k+ and a car vs just a car.

Ouch, definitely totaled. The LS held up nicely though

Has anyone ever seen more of these types of impacts on an LS. I am wondering how well the side curtain air bags work.

Well I get a discount through my insurance for the LS being 5 star crash rated so they must work pretty damn good..

Very crappy.. You say your going to get something gas friendly, but it's hard to leave the LS.. I say get another one if this one gets totaled out.. :D

Having a roll cage in the car would undoubtedly mean that I'd end-up head-butting with the insurance company. And the car would have gone to auction with no guarantee of being able to 'win'.

The end result would quite possibly have been no car---at least for a while---and no, or more likely VERY EXPENSIVE insurance.

At this point, I'm out of pocket less than $100.00 and have had the car to drive every day. :)
