i'm going to buy a aftermarket hid kit and sell my oem ones while they still work so i can make a buck.

Where is a good location to mount the new ballasts? I'm still unsure if ima get a kit with mounting brackets or the ones with the adhesive backing. Pics would be nice...

Havn't looked under the hood yet but would like suggestions. Thanks

IIRC, i think DLF made a pretty cool bracket to mount the ballasts on that went behind the grille.

I followed DLF's design...although because I used a different HID company I had to mount the ballasts on the outer part of the beams as opposed to the inner. That ends up causing interference with the beauty covers...they still attach but not as good.

Jamie mounted them in a pretty trick location (behind the airbox and battery).

I took a piece of 2 1/2" wide 3/16" thick aluminum bar stock and cut it to 12 1/2" long. Used pop rivets to mount the ballasts and 6mm stainless bolts to mount it to the car. It's spaced using an extra pair of nuts to avoid contact with the beauty cover.

I mounted mine to the 2 vertical uprights on the header panel. I had to lengthen the wires for the low beams by about 3 inches. You are seeing 4 ballasts in that picture. They are 3M taped and then 3 zipties around them and the vertical beam on the header panel. The DDM ballasts don't have any mounting tabs or holes in them.

I just mounted mine to the core support... There was enough room to put them in there

And heck, there's barely enough room to do that! those 2nd gen guys have all sorts of room in front of the core support, lol

I'll be glad when my car HAS a core support again!

Should be welded in tonight!

Well just ordered my hid kit and got done building the bracket/tray that the ballasts will sit on..It is in the same location as DLF's (post 5) but it is lowered about 1.5-2" so that the ballasts will sit on top. It's 12.5" long x 3"..The recessed peice is roughly1.3/4".it looks like this

Thanks DLF for the great idea and to the others that gave me good suggestions.
