common sense!!!

"Been visiting this site for some time and have picked up a ton of good information, Thanks!! Thought I could make a causal observation and possibly help out a few of the members.
I work for Ford and have driven some great cars over my lifetime, I am probably older than most of the members and would love to give a little advice on LS ownership.

The LS is not a sports car, just a pretty good attempt at a performance sedan by Lincoln.
If you beat it, it will break. If you take care of the car, your chances of expensive repairs will drop.
Doing donuts and burnouts are always bad for a car, dont care how much money you spent to upgrade components.
If you wanted a car with good gas mileage, dont buy an LS.
if you wanted an inexpensive car to operate, dont buy an LS.
If you wanted a sports car, dont buy an LS.

The more expensive a car is when it was new will determine how expensive it is to repair and keep in good shape.

If you are looking for a fun car that looks great, you bought the right car!! The common theme for most of the posts revolve around how hard your LS is driven and then complain about the time and money involved to fix it.

Keep up the great posts, thanks!! "

All I can say is it appears you should have followed your own advice "dont buy an LS".

My advice now: "if you are looking for a car that's not fun to drive and looks bad pick a Fusion!'

All I gotta say is, PLUS ONE!

While power to weight difference should be taken into account, it is not an "end all, be all" to who is faster. A 280hp LS with stock gears and stall vs. a 280hp LS with a 3400 stall, locking diff, 4.56's, and some good rubber is not an even race.

Also, curb weight on the 2010 Fusion sport model is 3800 and change. Not all too far off from the LS.

Just sayin.

Enjoy the new car with a warranty. Mine ran out a long time ago.

We have a shipper(trucking company) across from our manufacturing facility in Kirkland washington, and I got my LS on thier scales...+/- 10#'s...and with me OUT of the car, but with 3/4 tank of gas, the LS weighed 3780! Pretty much right on the MFG quote of 3753, dry....less than 3800#, in any case!

Speaking as an old fart, when I see a post like the one that started this thread, I immediately think that the writer must have just got into high school. The whole tone is childish.

I seem to be in a minority here, because I bought my '02 new and have put all 142K miles on it myself. I've been responsible for maintenance, or the lack thereof, from the beginning. With that understood, there are obviously some instances of 'over-engineering'---it seems to me that the entire hydraulic fan system is a 'wonderful answer to a non-existent question'. The guaranteed failure of the clockspring also speaks to stupidity on someone's part.

On the other hand, mostly the car has worked fine. It has performed excellently; particularly considering the load imposed by an addition of the spray-methanol package I've used to go land speed racing.

Although this summer will see a number of maintenance/upgrades, keep in mind the number of miles I've run the car. I've owned a bunch of new cars, including at least a half-dozen new Lincolns and one Jag. Considering all the roles a car plays in everyday life, my LS is the best combination of attributes I've ever had.

I'm with you on this, Cammer!

Every day...as soon as I log off of the LincolnVCaddy nursery school...oops, did I actually write that out loud...:)

lol I live near Kirkland WA. How come I never saw you on here.....I'm in Redmond :P

I'm on all the time...every day...but post little.

I drive the LS all over the place, it is very likely we have driven past each other!

indeed....mine isn't hard to miss :P especially if you've driven around willow's road

Because it was the second try after repete's attempt, so I emphasized THAT. lol.

But you are correct, it should be only emphasized on SHE. :D

finally, i've been trying for the perfect setup for the longest time, and nobody ever capitalizes on it, until today:D:cool::D:cool::D:cool::eek:

i guess nobody ever caught that episode of The Office

to OP, seems like you're happy. it's kind of unfair to compare the two cars. in fact, your LS is pretty nice looking and, really, looks much better in my opinion than the economobile.

it's true that they are both american cars, but the LS was lincoln's shot at competing with the european imports. in that way, it has a unique look and style not shared by other american cars. i'm not sure the same can be said about your replacement, which has a fairly generic look, don't you think?
