I was responding to something that was said to me on Jamie's thread where he shows his video, and realized it was thread hijacking in the worst way. So I thought it was more polite to just start a new thread and thereby not pollute his. So here goes.

You know, I kind of feel like Rodney Dangerfield around here.
Here are a a couple of articles that I wrote about exhaust a good while back:

I am quite clear on what a header is and both the theory and practice behind them. The reason I was "hmmm"ing is because my exposure to anyone else running a Mark VIII in any kind of competitive fashion is rather limited and I am always gathering information and comparing that to either what I already know or to how my own car performs in a similar environment.
When I purchased my car the stall converter was stupendously low... at 900 rpm the back tires would break free on a full brake stand. When I replaced my stall the one that was in there was obviously not stock and now on the rare occasion that I get to see someone else that has a stock converter, I try to mentally compare that to my own experiences.
Jamie is someone that I not only have purchased from in the past, but someone I look towards as a person who knows what they are doing with their car and as such I pay attention and ask questions. I guess I should have not posted that "hmmm" when you said he has a stock converter as it really was just an internalization on my part. I was typographically transmitting my thought process.
Ripped Camel I appreciate greatly the information and help that you are funneling my way, so don't take this outburst as anything other than frustration on my part. It's annoying to be able to run an 11.96 in the quarter and still have everyone around you think you have no idea what you are doing.
When I started going to the local dragstrip about the only attention I ever got was a fairly routine question along the lines of "why did you bring that thing here?". I research, compile, experiment and move VERY slowly. 4 years and in excess of 500 runs later I was consistently in the low 12s and STILL if my car was parked in the pits with the engine bay open, people would stop and look at the mustang next to me that had a 2 valve 215 horsepower motor and was turning high 14s. I could cross the finish line at the same time the Honda next to me was crossing the 1000 foot mark and when I got back to the pits, everyone would be asking what the guy had done to the Honda. That kind of frustration and lack of respect I have come to accept as just the cost of bringing a luxury car to a sports car fight, but to come onto a Lincoln forum and get that same kind of assumptive dismissiveness stings a bit.
I am just ranting and expressing here, so don't think I am addressing anyone personally especially Ripped Camel. I am just frustrated!

He's got kooks headers...you don't. The faster the air gets into and out of the engine the faster the car will rev. This is also true with lightened driveshaft components...
