What do you guys think about the vinyl decals? I don't like the ricer look, but my car was just a little too plain so this is what I came up with. I like the black look. Don't worry, I dish out plenty of critisism so if you don't like em don't be affraid to say so. I am also going to paint my brake calipers & wheels soon. Too much chrome on the wheels for me. I'm only going to paint a small portion of the wheels black. I'm open to suggestions on the caliper color. I'm thinking either black or a dark ford blue. What do you guys think?

Well, I like the idea... but...

I'd have just ran with "4.6L 32 Valve DOHC"

Get those calipers powder coated, it'll hold up a lot better... black would look best.

And I'd leave those wheels alone... painting over chrome, stands a good chance of peeling off. Plus, I think they look good as is.

All of that is of course just my opinion. It's your car, so what you like is really all that matters.

Here's my opinion: Decals good, lose the SVT, leave wheels all chrome, paint callipers black. Very clean gen 1 though! :)

I like the stickers and if you like them leave them on,for the calipers i would go gold with some red paint on the back side of the pads, dremel in some words on the calipers and paint it,like lincoln or stop or a bad word.I think the gold will go good with your white car, what color is your interior, try to match the calipers to it

Well let's see, I guess the "SVT" will go bye bye. I was wondering about that myself.

I'm kinda leaning towards the black calipers. Red would really stand out but it might be a bit much. Not too much really works with the ivory pearl color. Oh & the inside is ivory as well.

Thanks for the nice comments on the wheels. Don't you guys think it's too much bling though? I went with an 18" wheel & a 245/45/18 tire to try to avoid the 'bling' look but I'm not sure if it worked. Most people seem to like them as is, just not me.

So....

Black calipers

SVT part of sticker will be gone

Leave wheels alone for now

How much to powder coat the calipers? ball park figure?

Dremel words into the calipers? That sounds like you would need a very steady hand or maybe even a special machine/jig for it. The idea is cool but too much work involved to make it look professional I would think.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you! I take a lot of pride in this car as I think that most of us Mark VIII owners do. I throw a fit if someone gets a finger print on her & no riders in the back seat except for my son, and even he is trained to keep his feet on the floor mat. :D

I'd loose the Beauty Cover to the engine.

1. Holds in heat..
2. PITA to keep taking off when you want to play with the engine
3. I like looking at an engine even if the engine is ugly - beauty cover says
to me I have an ugly engine that I'm not proud of.

As for the Vinyl... It's subtle enough to work. I'm not a fan of the SVT unless you have it set up as SVT... But it works for me.

If it was large and guady in some wild florescent colors then it would jump out and say Ricer....

my powder coat guy quoted me $15ea.

Of course, you'll have to remove them, disassemble them... Neither of which is difficult. But, the big thing is the durability of the powder coating. Paint doesn't even come close to matching it.

You guys & your dislike for the beaty cover:p I actually really like the cover. Mine isn't all busted up yet so it still looks good. I don't like seeing wires, vacuum lines & all of that other stuff. Lincoln put that cover there for a reason, Its not that pretty underneath of it. I understand wanting to see the engine & the mechanical aspect of it but I am not willing to budge on this one.

You are right about the SVT part, just as others have mentioned. It's coming off in a few minutes.

I am just trying to make the mark look abit more aggressive. I don't like the 'old man look'. That's just my oppinion of a stock mark though. The ivory color is tough to work with in my oppinion. I personally think the 3 best colors for a mark of any year are PEARL WHITE, CHARCOL & that deep GARNETT/BURGANDY color.

if your car stays clean / garaged all the time .. you could try powder coating/ painting them pearl white to match your exterior.. i saw that once at a show.. pearl white car with pearl white rotors.. it looked great.. but im sure itll get dirty fast !!

im up in the air about the vinyl...

I like the trunk ones, but the sides just don't do it for me. Go black for the calipers, nice clean look.

As long as you prep your calipers before painting them they should last a long time and if you do them in black they will be easy to touch up.Mine are done in silver but not with paint but with anti sieze lube/brake grease,i am surprised in how well this has held up,when i was doing my brakes i decided just to brush the calipers and brackets with that silver goop and then i just wipe it clean and they look good enough until i have more time to spare.

Silver anti seize makes brake pipes look like new too! Hehehe... :shifty:

And that stuff does not wash off,i know,my clothes and my whole under carriage of my mark is covered with it, also works great on the rear aluminumn suspension parts.what a fun day that was.

Feeling the trunk lid decal
I'm not too hot about the engine description on the side of the car
Black calipers would be sharp
If my beauty cover looked like yours it'd still be on, I like that

i think now that im done with messing with my plugs, etc, the beauty cover is going back on the car.

Cool, some people like the beauty cover besides me.:p

I just picked up a mint black headliner & sunvisors with the homelink for $20 bucks total @ the pic a part. When I get some time I'm going to put them in. Mine are currently ivory but are not in that great of shape, Hopefully the black ones will look OK. We will see.
